Horton hasn't given up a run in his last 4 outings, so we are getting him at a tough time. His workload is being managed though, so he shouldn't go deep into the game.

On the Jays side, it feels good to be excited for Gausman starts again!

Horton's ERA on the road this season is over 5, so lets hope that tendency keeps up today. 4 pitch guy mainly, 4 seam (95-96), curve(84), sweeper(84), change(88).. occasional sinker at 95.

Bet the Jays big tonight run line (-1.5) haha.

On the surface, we should be able to get to a pitcher who doesn't generate very many swings and misses or strikeouts.

I think we have to be patient and wait for a mistake, even if it gets to two strikes. There's no point in attacking the guy early if he doesn't have an out pitch.

Actually, Horton is underperforming his whiffs if anything. 60th percentile chase rate with a 66th percetile whiff rate. So he's got sneaky good stuff, it just hasn't been translating into strikeouts. With that said, he should provide a similar look to Ben Brown who we had no issues avoiding the swing and miss against.

Did you ever bet on the Jays winning the AL and/or World Series?

Underperforming perhaps, but still in the bottom quarter for strikeouts. I don't think there's a big time strikeout artist hidden by some bad luck. We should be able to get to him, since he has some trouble putting hitters away.

I was so confident on the Jays win total being over 76.5 that I bet 50 units* on the over. That should cash any day now.

*1 unit = 1 dollar

I bet 25 bucks on the Jays winning the AL and another 25 on them winning the World Series right after the season ended.  I was convinced Shatkins were going to have an epic offseason to bounce back.  Never would I have thought we'd be winning for the reasons we are lol.

I mean, not saying he should have elite numbers instead, but he's a 23 year old rookie who was a top prospect with big K numbers in the minors. Agree to disagree sure, but I actually do think there's hidden K potential in there between the minor league rate and the fact that he is getting chase and whiffs at the MLB, and I'm sure the Cubs think so as well. Just saying I wouldn't sell him short as the stuff might be better than the numbers have been showing.

The rare example of someone putting their money where their mouth isn't.

Although if my takes were as bad as yours I'd probably fade myself too :)

I definitely agree with you on his potential to garner more strikeouts in the future. I think the major league stats paint a better picture of what he is at this very moment than the minor league stats do. We can agree to disagree on that, Watching him tonight will give me a better read on what kind of potential he has. I have honestly only seen him pitch once against Boston a couple of weeks ago and he was awfully lucky to not get roughed up,

Enjoy your victory laps this season.  Most of us are having too much fun to fight back this season lol.

Keys to victory:

  • Jays won't be striking out so they need to have good aim on their line drives & hard ground balls
  • Gausman needs to make sure that the Cubs' home runs are solo shots

71 to 1 back in November/December. Then cashed out some of it unfortunately after they missed out on some of the big FA's lol.

And that's troublesome and should be corrected, the amount of vitriol over the last 6 years is disgusting from you. This post should age well when it comes to the FO. Post season 4 of 6 years and the Birds were pinched in their best year by a game.

Knock... knock... that's a good front office. Opinions change man.

Of course, I'm not going to stay rigid if im given new information like this season.  Just enjoying the ride right now, im sure most will judge this team based on how we perform in the playoffs.

This might be a "second time through the order we get to you" kind of night

For the Cubs or for the Jays? It’s been 3 hitters if you mean for the Jays lol.
