Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 I feel good about this one with a rested bullpen and a favourable pitching matchup. It's essential to get another win in the books with Skubal going tomorrow.

Laika Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 Need to crush Montero, dude has a 5.26 FIP and it just a boring sinker-slider RHP. In past years random sinker-slider RHP could cause issues for Toronto but they can throw four viable LHB in there today so we should be good
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 I wonder what kind of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) the Jays have switched to at AAA It's funny to me that all of Barger, Schneider, and Loperfido were meh in AAA this year but have been much better in MLB after promotion. And Wagner was also just meh in AAA but has a 159 wRC+ since coming back up in June. They must be working on specific things down there and doing things that the Jays are tracking which don't really translate to being good in games

Laika Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 I wonder if they will tap the brakes on activating Varsho until they see what trades happen Very possible that dudes from the MLB roster are being traded. The obvious option for Varsho is Loperfido, which is a bit of a shame given how Loperfido has been playing. But JL is also huge trade bait right now because of the Jays' depth and how he is playing. I doubt Wagner, Orelvis, or Clase will draw much interest from other teams. Lukes is too old to be worth much in trade. Schneider and Straw probably aren't super interesting as trade targets either and the Jays kind of need their side of the platoon so they are less likely to be dealt I think. Roden and Loperfido are probably the most likely Buffalo Boys to be traded. From the ones who have MLB experience at least. Shreck and other non 40 man dudes could be dealt of course. Toronto kind of NEEDS to deal some of this depth. Can't keep all these position players. Already lost Wil Robertson for nothing. Terminator and Stangstag 2

I'd say if you can add some bullpen depth for prospects, go for it. But theres a serious risk of messing with the mojo this team has. Even Santander I thought brought terrible mojo, he always looked grumpy. Since he's been off the field the Jays have been the best team in baseball...

I assume some of the Buffalo Boys could net decent relievers in 1v1 trades. I fully expect some of them to be dealt. Wouldn't be shocked by a Straw trade either if the Jays decide they want to upgrade there and acquire someone like Laureano. It seems like a contender with a s*** bench could use a guy like him.

He's such an obvious black hole offensively, but his defense is so elite, if Varsho gets hurt our CF defense would be exposed. We have other guys that are competent but nobody comes close to Straw and Varsho. Straw can at least put the bat on the ball decently and can do the little things like bunt and pinch run. I don't know if I want to give him up for a bit of an offensive upgrade. I think our offense is fine anyhow especially if we're reasonably healthy. Terminator 1

On Twitter I see a ton of "let's get another right handed bat" tweets but if you do, you basically have to dump Straw. And Straw is a perfect bench guy come playoff time.

A lot of people also don't understand how elite his defense is because he makes it look easy, he doesn't make highlight real diving catches and he doesn't leap through the air because he doesn't have to. He fails the eye test and they see him as expendable. Jays24 and Terminator 2

harvey16 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 That Vladdy hit would of been a HR in almost every other MLB park. Comerica Park is massive and to think they have brought the fences in twice compared to when the park opened. Jays24 and Spanky__99 2
