I understand your confusion but the Philadelphia Athletics no longer exist. There's the Athletics, who suck, and then Philadelphia, who doesn't.

jaysthebest Verified Member Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 A's had lost the last 12 of 14 games before they faced us. They are not an MLB team. Please don't compare A's to the actual MLB team, the Phillies.

Masterbather Verified Member Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 Eat it Schwarber. Francis won't let YOU beat him!
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 Bowden Francis' struggle makes me think of how bad the A's are. The A's offense couldn't score a run against this scrub lol.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 100% on Clement and where is Francis?
neverbeenhere Verified Member Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 have to agree, rest is just garbage time for the entire game

Masterbather Verified Member Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 Didn't the Blue Jays come back from a 7-0 deficit in the Kingdome when Dave Winfield hit the go ahead Grand slam off Schooler in the ninth to win 8-7? Is there one other person on this board that remembers that? I'm just saying it CAN happen.

neverbeenhere Verified Member Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 JS was upset as he didn't even give a pad to Francis

Probably the worst time to become a fan considering the drought that would ensue. Congratulations for hanging in there.
BB17 Verified Member Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 Bo’s arm really is weak. That play would be a double play by at least 75% of SS in MLB.
Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 I think Francis gets one more start before he is DFA'd.

Ya, I missed the glory days, it's been frustrating

With Turnbull close and Laurer and Lucas around, you may very well be right. Maybe it happens after this game even but they probably give him one more.

The guy throwing right now might be the next guy to slot in at #5 But, realistically, acquiring a #4 or #5 barely moves the needle... they need a top end guy that can exceed Gausman's level to push everyone else down, just like they needed in the offseason. Not even sure there's anyone out there that's on the block that even fits that bill tbh.
