Who, what's the trade? The only closer available in trade is now gone. You do that at the deadline when teams sell.

There's various options from this list: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?month=0&pos=all&type=8&stats=rel&pagenum=1&pageitems=30&sortcol=12&sortdir=default

Not all CL's by trade, but high leverage arms who are more than capable of closing out games if given the chance. Any one of those guys could be made available for the right price.

Sign Tucker.

Let Springer DH

You got Varsho in CF

And you got Lukes and Davis platooning in LF

Even Barger can play some RF still.

Mostly you get Anthony Santander off our Baseball team. Thats why.

You’re better off trading one of Lukes/Loperfido/Young guy over Santander. He probably gets you like nothing in a trade right now.

They can all get AB's in this scenario I mentioned? As for your question it's hard to say, if Santander goes back to hitting 30+ bombs with an ISO north of 200 again, it'd be close. Schneider's used sparingly if you haven't noticed. So realistically, I'd be shocked if the Jays traded him, Springer's contract is up after the upcoming season. And there's no guarantee Lukes and DS repeat '25.

You would really rather have Bo over Tucker? What about the potential of both? I just don't see an obvious fit for Santander on the roster anymore. Regardless of where you put him you're making somewhere else worse. Lets say they decide they want to DH him. That pushes Springer back into the OF. Lets say they want him to play RF or LF everyday you're making your OF defense substantially worse.

Obviously he's probably going to play RF Everyday if they don't sign Tucker. But lets hope they sign Tucker because that's a franchise changing talent.

I'm on board with trading any of those guys. I don't know if you need a valuable return for him. I think you just need him gone. I would rather have another bat plug in where he would prodimentaly play and run with better defenders in LF. Sometimes you sign guys and it doesn't work out. Were in a championship window we can't afford to wait another year hoping he's going to be the guy he was in Baltimore because he doesn't do anything else well. If he's not hitting Homeruns he's a negative asset.

You seriously just showed me a listing of FG's RP leaders as your answer? lol

lol... both. Yes I'd rather have Bo at a fraction of what they're projected to go for, than sign Suarez in my perfectly realistic world. I'm not going to cry if we signed Tucker hopefully it's in the 250 to 300M range. They'd likely have to wait till the deadline for a shutdown guy if that happens.

The point is there are far more quality options via trade than the current free agent pool.

One thing I don't understand about the Orioles is why didn't use that $155 million on a front end starter like Framber Valdez. The one thing they had was bats. Some of them coming off a down Season but they also had some injuries. I think they have very dangerous core of bats that looks absurd now. I just don't know how they continue to not add what they really need. And maybe they have another $150 million to give someone. I'm not sure yet. They would be taking a massive leap in salary which is something they have never done. And they are going to have to start re-signing some of those young core pieces in the coming years.

Happy for Pete Alonzo finally getting his bag though. Dude just produces consistently. Mets f***ed around and found out. And yea and its a lot of money but damn that's a consistent bat in your Lineup.

They're still in the top of the remaining SP market

Bro you're going to be stoked if they sign Kyle Tucker don't lie.

Name 1? This should be easier.

Lets see if they are. I don't think many people had them spending $300+ million this off-season. I would be personally shocked if they gave another monster deal.

Yup, FA's and trade, their trying to pry awal Cabrera from the Marlins and it's a fit, plus they've traded recently so on decent terms.

Not really sure what the Mets are doing. As things currently stand, McNeil, Vientos, Baty, and Tyrone Taylor are all in line for every day ABs, and that's not going to end well. They need to add like 3 bats.

Of course, lol. I don't think throwing away Santander for free is smart business is all, and Bo and Suarez added, that fits.

Throwing away Santander for free is definitely smart business. He'd get like a 1/8 + an option deal if he hit FA right now. Obviously the team sheds that commitment if they could. Moot point though because they'd have to eat almost the entire thing and there's no reason to do that.

Yeah I wonder if the O's signing Pete is going to have a negative cascading effect on the Jays in their pursuit of Tucker or Bo.

The Mets have to get some bats now and Tucker is a great fit, though you wonder if the Mets will want to commit over a billion dollars on corner OFers for the next decade.

Bo probably isn't as good of a fit for them since they traded for Semien, but if they go HAM on the other FAs, that could push a big market team to then go in on Bo.

Yeah. The Mets have to add a big bat here, because they look like massive losers right now. And the only ones available are the ones we're sniffing around: Bo, Tucker, Marte.

As much as I'll miss Springer when he's gone, it becomes much easier to bat Santander every day starting in 2027

Hopefully 2026 shows he deserves to

Ever heard of addition by subtraction? I genuinely feel the Blue Jays are a better Baseball team if Santander is not playing the OF. Your point about Lukes and Davis not being able to duplicate their successes from this past Season are valid. But both are projected to out perform Santander this coming Season. And that's without a platoon or ideal matchups. It's something to consider if given the opportunity.

Santander is projected for like 1 WAR by Steamer right now. That's really a bat we want to squeeze in the lineup to make our OF defense worse? Was one of the strengths of the team last year.

If the FO is aggressive enough with a surplus of positional talent.

Well, if he's on the market, I'm sure Toronto would be all over that. I don't think he is though, his team hasn't said it. This is my point though, good closers on contenders generally aren't available in the offseason. The older closers were traded last deadline and become FA's.

Yep, lots at play here.

  • Mets could go hard after our targets, but if they don't they will go after guys like Bregman and Bellinger.
  • If the Mets get Bellinger, the Yanks could pivot toward Tucker or maybe even Bo?
  • Red Sox missed out on Pete so this pushes them further into Bregman or Bo territory as it is. If the Mets sign Bregman, then you figure the Sox would be in fairly hard on Bo.

Lots at play here but if this were musical chairs, the Orioles scooping up Alonso in a surprise is going to leave one less chair (aka FA bat) for everyone else.

Whatever pipe dreams I had of getting both Tucker and Bo are probably gone, and getting even one is going to prove difficult if the Mets feel any desperation at all.

Jays could pivot to trades or perhaps one of the Japanese bats and relievers in FA.

That's my point buddy, why would they do that?

My gif was literally "But Why?"
