Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 The trade deadline's getting weird, Crochet the trailblazer, and 7 other observations https://thescore.com/mlb/news/3043943 Interesting little article. Did you guys hear Crochet is demanding an extension for him to pitch in October? Never heard of that before. Can a player actually just refuse to play in the playoffs??? Also the first I've read about a "cover 2 defense" and suppressing doubles. That is why I never had Crochet as the number 1 target SP for a playoff team. Even before his agent said that last week he had pitched more than he ever had in his life and huge questions if he would need to be shut down. I think it would need to be a Team that is so far ahead and locked into a playoff spot they could sit him for a while and fire him back up full speed in October, still a high risk.... Hader kinda did the same thing.. But not the same and Hader has cred. Not a good situation and the agent screwed up big time by making it public/letting it get public IMO.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 I get why Crochet would want to make such a demand but he doesn't have nearly the pedigree nor leverage to do so. Plus where is the competitive spirit? If he feels he has limited time in his baseball career, wouldn't winning a championship be top priority? Enjoy throwing whatever pitches you have left for a last place team, Garrett. Getting paid would be his top priority.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Jazz to Yankees???? Yup, looks like it.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Our division is just getting so much better than the Blue Jays. On a different level.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Chisholm and Tanner Scott to Yankees Spencer Jones, Will Warren, Jorbit Vivas to Marlins Prefer the Yanks side by a lot
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Is Chisolm going back to 2B and Torres to 3B?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Getting paid would be his top priority. I agree. First priority is to setup your family for life. Second priority is to win a championship.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Is Chisolm going back to 2B and Torres to 3B? That's my understanding
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Chisholm and Tanner Scott to Yankees Spencer Jones, Will Warren, Jorbit Vivas to Marlins Prefer the Yanks side by a lot I'm not seeing this as the trade

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Estevez to the Phillies. We sold Garcia at an extreme discount apparently lmao
MikeM3 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Would have taken one of Klassen or Aldegheri for Yimi lol
BCZ Verified Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 This just in: Atkins selling to make the Blue Jays a mediocre team for the next 5+ years
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 We got Derek Fisher and Tyler Heinymen for Garcia Angels get two legitimate SP prospects for Estevez Yay team
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Winker to the Mets He seems like a Met…
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 We got Derek Fisher and Tyler Heinymen for Garcia Angels get two legitimate SP prospects for Estevez Yay team This is what happens when your pitcher is coming back from an arm injury. Value drops.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Max Fried to the IL. The Braves are reeling. Good time to trade them Bassitt for max return. No pun intended.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 This is what happens when your pitcher is coming back from an arm injury. Value drops. The discrepancy in returns appears much larger than just injury discount to me than to you I suppose
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Wow, Adam to the Padres. The Rays are better then us and going full tear down mode. I don’t get it. If they hung in there, they have Springs, and Rassmussen and others coming back. Maybe they looked at their run differential…
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 The discrepancy in returns appears much larger than just injury discount to me than to you I suppose Perhaps. I don't pretend to know all those prospect in depth. Maybe Atkins is a f***ing useless douchenozzle who can't do anything right. Or maybe not - maybe he canvased all the buyers and that was the market value for Garcia for various reasons.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Ross Atkins spit out his drink after reading this.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 I know Lesko has been struggleing, but he was a top spec. Good job by the Rays who will probably fix him. Shocked they got Lesko.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Is Adam’s now arb eligible? If he is it’s a payroll dump. I guess so. I thought the Randy A deal was a kind of one off. I guess not.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Is Adam’s now arb eligible? If he is it’s a payroll dump. 2024 was his first arb year. He has 2 more before FA, and will probably make around 4M next year. Rays doing Rays stuff.
