HomeRunHomer Verified Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 The placebo home run jacket has already lost it's effectiveness.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 3-3 vs. Tigers and White Sox is not going to get it done. This team sucks.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 3-3 in the easy stretch so far. Maybe instead of a home run jacket they can create an "opposite field single" jacket, at least it would get more use.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 The only silver lining is all the stupid articles and tweets on the HR jacket being an offensive catalyst will cease.
HomeRunHomer Verified Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Just got to tip your cap to the Tigers.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 The only silver lining is all the stupid articles and tweets on the HR jacket being an offensive catalyst will cease. The home run jacket was the only thing giving me hope. Everything else about this team friggin blows lol

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 I am impressed with getting into some deep counts today. Of that we can be very proud.
Traded_prospect Verified Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Can anyone explain to me how any one of Guillermo Martinez, Hunter Mense, and Matt Hague, the three batting coaches are still employed by this team? Guillermo has been the hitting coach since 2018 and during that time it would be very hard to show that anyone has improved. Usually teams throw out the batting coach once a team goes into a hitting funk. Not this team. Bizzare.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Screw the hitting coaches... fire the douches who've been here for 9 years and put this clusterf*** of an offense and minor league system together.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 Can't win them all Can't even win half of them

Laika Community Moderator Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Justin Turner rewarded for sucking by hitting 2nd then he goes 0-6 with five Ks and leaves 17 men on base Absolute poetry by John Schneider and the Blue Jays Can't DH your best hitter either! Gotta keep him fresh for the second half when he is a Chicago Cub

It's literally enough rope to hang the entire team with.

It's insane - it's crazy stubbornness because the spreadsheet says these guys will hit. On the other end, the team seems to fully expect Schneider to fail and therefore want to give him just enough rope to prove them right, but not enough to prove them entirely wrong.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 I expected the Springer to be less than elite in the last couple of years of his contract but I didn't think he would be basically unplayable. It’s rough to watch

hanton Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 The only silver lining is all the stupid articles and tweets on the HR jacket being an offensive catalyst will cease. the same ones that wrote about how bad the jacket was and it needed to go. ffs The jacket was never an issue. I sometimes wonder if people watch other teams play - dugout celebrations and props are a thing. The Mariners and the trident the Angels a Samurai.....etc
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Oh lol right the Springer trade in BORED. Honestly dude, I thought he was gonna bounce back this year. If you check my past comments I was always defending him
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Might get the split tomorrow but Detroit desperate for a series win Keep in mind we are missing Skabul, most likely odds on AL Cy Young winner so far. If they were facing Skabul, God help them!

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 I typically don't gripe too much about managerial decisions but the decision to start Turner over Jansen at DH despite him being 6 for his last 57 AB heading into the game and then hitting him second is beyond f***ing egregious. Over and over again Turner's spot in the lineup came up in big situations and he repeatedly failed over and over again to deliver.

The front office has shown time and time again they are way too slow reacting to guys slumping or being unexpectedly good
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 The front office has shown time and time again they are way too slow reacting to guys slumping or being unexpectedly good The team is largely getting in it's own way at times. Whether it's the stubborn refusal to move Springer down in the order, or cut Turner's playing time due to a month long slump, or dragging their feet on playing Schneider every day, or inserting Jansen into the DH spot more frequently. If the offensive situation weren't so dire these issues wouldn't be as big of a deal but on a team that has mostly struggled to plate runs for most of the season it's high time for more desperation.

Also s*** like giving Manoah way too much rope last year when he was trash, still deciding to go into 2024 with both Varsho and KK as everyday players, not addressing the offensive issues from 2023 at all, can go on and on
