TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Lots of nice negativity about the team right now, so a great time to bring out the best thread of the year. I will have mine shortly. As the guy with the most positivity towards the team (I have a sizable 100 win bet even) I will be prepared for the ridicule when I am inevitably wrong.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Career year for Varsho incoming. 5+ WAR, 30/20
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Jays finish 4th in the Division Kikuchi will be their most reliable starter Vladdy has a big bounceback season .950+ OPS Bichette has a down year sub .800 OPS Tiedemann ends the season as the Jays #3 starter.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Joey Votto has a dead cat bounce, puts up 135 wRC+ in 400+ PA's and puts up close to 3 fWAR
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 KK hits 20 HR Clement goes to the ASG IKF hits 15 HR Varsho out WAR's everyone on the team
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Jace Bohrofen wins POTY in MILB. Romano leads league in saves. Biggio's a 2+ win player. Schneider wins MOTY after Jays mop the floor with East and go on to win the WS.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Varsho 5 WAR Bichette steals 30 bags Davis Schneider ends up in Buffalo Addison Barger is the new Davis Schneider Gausman Cy Young Everyone complains about having to roster IKF next year
bigpaulie Verified Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 25% of the current 40 man roster, will not be on the final game 40 man roster
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Jace Bohrofen wins POTY in MILB. I just want everyone to know that I was on Jace Bohrofen long before Spanky was. If he breaks out I deserve the credit, not Spanky. Biggio's a 2+ win player. Holy s*** these are "bold" predictions not borderline impossible Spanky.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Jays win the AL East Varsho has a 30 / 30 season (hr, sb) Manoah finishes the season in the rotation IKF has a sub 80 wRC+ There's at least one rain delay at RC
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 1. Vlad is back and he hits 40+ HRs 2. Springer turns back the clock with a 130+ wRC+ and 25+ HRs 3. KK struggles with injuries, plays <80 games and has a wRC+ <95 4. Bo wins the AL batting title 5. Varsho finishes with twice the fWAR that Moreno does 6. Cooke is our closer at the end of the season 7. Pearson, Danner and Little throw 130 innings combined 8. Barger is a starting OFer for 60+ games this year 9. Jays offense finishes Top 5 in wRC+ and runs scored, but the pitching finishes outside the Top 10 in ERA 10. Jays win 2 playoff series this year
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 IKF finishes in the top 3 fWAR on the team Tiedemann pitches 50+ MLB innings with a ERA below 3.20 Berrios continue the opening day starter curse with an ERA above 5 and misses a month and a half due to injury Bassitt wins AL Cy Young Barger is starting in the OF by the all start break. Votto doesn't play a single game for the Jays Jansen signs an extension mid-season and then puts up a .900+ OPS post extension Romano goes 40 for 40 in saves
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Bowden Francis is an all star. Ernie Clement rookie of the year candidate. Jose Berrios wins the Cy. Chad Green is our mvp out of the pen. Davis Schneider sent down to the Bisons by August. John Schneider is sacked or steps down. Donnie Baseball becomes the manager. Pete Walker stays sober through the all star break. Go bold or go home.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Yankees less than 85 wins and miss the playoffs. Deja vu from my prediction last year though this time it doesn't have the weight since enough people are starting to see the cracks in this team. As for the Jays, I don't really have any prediction. Nowhere do I look at this team and say "boy, I expect a breakout campaign from that guy". Okay, one. I expect the Jays W-L to outperform their Pythagorean W-L. Which if you look at recent history (2021 but not the last two years) and the franchise history as a whole, is a rare feat. 90+ wins with a run differential that suggests 85. I expect the Jays to be on the right side of a lot of close games. The team is built to protect leads.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 I guess my bold prediction can be that the team underwhelms/disappoints at an individual player stat and accomplishment level but still manages to do well overall.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Vlad repeats as home run derby champ. Jays miss the postseason.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 I just want everyone to know that I was on Jace Bohrofen long before Spanky was. If he breaks out I deserve the credit, not Spanky. Holy s*** these are "bold" predictions not borderline impossible Spanky. Wow!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 - Varsho will hit 30 HR's with 80 RBI and steal between 25-30 bases. - Kikuchi will strike out 200+ batters. - Votto will post similar numbers like he did in 2018 and have an .OBP above .400 and post a WAR between 2.5 - 3. - Bassitt will land on the IL and only make 20 starts. - Biggio will hit 20 HR's.
BatFlip Verified Member Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 I wish I answered earlier, because everyone stole my thunder with Varsho predictions. - Varsho hits 30 dingers and is worth 4 WAR - Vladdy hits .300 with 40 dingers and doesn't put on weight during the season - Gausman finally wins the Cy Young - Ricky T gets a short shake in the rotation and claims a spot for next year with his performance - Schneider puts up a .800 ops and secures second base - Vogelbach.... aw f*** it, nevermind.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Vogelbach discovers Ozempic, leads the team in Stolen Bases and becomes the new 2b.
BatFlip Verified Member Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Wow! Tread carefully. He may demand to be comped with a Swiss Chalet gift card.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Davis Schneider ends up in Buffalo Addison Barger is the new Davis Schneider That's why I actually like the farm system such as it is. Davis Scneider, Addison Barger, and Palmegiani are the same guy, none getting the Jays any love from BA or Keith Law, but according to the laws of probability 3 rolls of the dice is better than one. Now I guess if you model it as these guys have a 1 in 10000 chance of success then it doesn't matter that there are 3... but if you model it that they all have 15% chance of success then it is massively important that there are 3.

Between all these sorta fringe infielders you have to imagine they hit on at least one of them
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Farm system is underrated, I've been saying it all offseason. It's not amazing or anything but they do have: --> position player depth, of the MLB ready variety --> relievers with some upside, of the MLB ready variety --> improved SP depth through AAA/AA than last year --> some exciting high upside prospects like Nimmala, Bonilla, Tiedemann, and a few others
