Lots of nice negativity about the team right now, so a great time to bring out the best thread of the year. I will have mine shortly. As the guy with the most positivity towards the team (I have a sizable 100 win bet even) I will be prepared for the ridicule when I am inevitably wrong.

Jace Bohrofen wins POTY in MILB.

I just want everyone to know that I was on Jace Bohrofen long before Spanky was. If he breaks out I deserve the credit, not Spanky.

Biggio's a 2+ win player.

Holy s*** these are "bold" predictions not borderline impossible Spanky.

Yankees less than 85 wins and miss the playoffs. Deja vu from my prediction last year though this time it doesn't have the weight since enough people are starting to see the cracks in this team.

As for the Jays, I don't really have any prediction. Nowhere do I look at this team and say "boy, I expect a breakout campaign from that guy".

Okay, one. I expect the Jays W-L to outperform their Pythagorean W-L. Which if you look at recent history (2021 but not the last two years) and the franchise history as a whole, is a rare feat. 90+ wins with a run differential that suggests 85. I expect the Jays to be on the right side of a lot of close games. The team is built to protect leads.

I guess my bold prediction can be that the team underwhelms/disappoints at an individual player stat and accomplishment level but still manages to do well overall.

- Varsho will hit 30 HR's with 80 RBI and steal between 25-30 bases.

- Kikuchi will strike out 200+ batters.

- Votto will post similar numbers like he did in 2018 and have an .OBP above .400 and post a WAR between 2.5 - 3.

- Bassitt will land on the IL and only make 20 starts.

- Biggio will hit 20 HR's.

I wish I answered earlier, because everyone stole my thunder with Varsho predictions.

- Varsho hits 30 dingers and is worth 4 WAR

- Vladdy hits .300 with 40 dingers and doesn't put on weight during the season

- Gausman finally wins the Cy Young

- Ricky T gets a short shake in the rotation and claims a spot for next year with his performance

- Schneider puts up a .800 ops and secures second base

- Vogelbach.... aw f*** it, nevermind.

That's why I actually like the farm system such as it is. Davis Scneider, Addison Barger, and Palmegiani are the same guy, none getting the Jays any love from BA or Keith Law,

but according to the laws of probability 3 rolls of the dice is better than one.

Now I guess if you model it as these guys have a 1 in 10000 chance of success then it doesn't matter that there are 3... but if you model it that they all have 15% chance of success then it is massively important that there are 3.

Between all these sorta fringe infielders you have to imagine they hit on at least one of them

Farm system is underrated, I've been saying it all offseason.

It's not amazing or anything but they do have:

--> position player depth, of the MLB ready variety

--> relievers with some upside, of the MLB ready variety

--> improved SP depth through AAA/AA than last year

--> some exciting high upside prospects like Nimmala, Bonilla, Tiedemann, and a few others

Yeah, bottom 3rd is silly.
