But are there moves to be made that can salvage this season, without compromising the future? Seems doubtful. Also seems doubtful we even have the pieces needed to go get the players we need to salvage this season. I guess some moron may think Ricky T isn't broken, but I'm not sure any other prospect is going to land you difference maker. We'd seemingly be selling Ricky at his low point too - so I can't imagine that's even considered.

That's the issue, the Jays don't need a band aid fix, they need legit impact talent, and I really don't see a realistic avenue to get one. The only one I can think of that would be available in July is Luis Robert, and he'd cost the only decent prospects the Jays have (and even that may not be enough). I mean if the Jays don't want to rebuild then they might as well trade Orelvis/Tiedemann/whatever else to get Robert as he's under team control through 2027 via team options. If you're going to try to squeeze more juice out of this core then you need a trade like that, not the Turner/KK/IKF type signings.

This all seems bizarre. I didn't see him toss his glove into the stands, but with all the nets now, I suspect it wasn't some violent throw meant to hurt anyone. Had to be a toss over the net, like you'd toss a ball. Some fan gets a f***ing cool souvenir. Why was the manager so upset that his pitcher, who's just pissed off at his own performance, flips a glove into the stands? Or are their rules that players aren't supposed to do that?

he lobbed it up in the air, underhand

a fan caught it

it was not aggressive or dangerous at all lmao and someone got an awesome souv

Trenton Wallace might be an interesting option if they were considering bringing up an SP straight from AA

This front office group has been really hesitant to call up prospect starters to make spot starts in previous years and has seemingly preferred bullpen games, openers, scrap heap starters and the like.

So much relies on current roster guys bouncing back regardless. Impact trades are there...I don't really care at this point which prospects get dealt as virtually none look like true impact talent, but some have the right tools to be interesting to the right seller.

There's no Soto-esque deals that's for sure though unless he gets really creative.

This Lopez story is getting worse and worse. Apparently his son has serious health issues and is on a waiting list for a transplant.

Poor guy loses his cool because he's under a lot of stress and wants to WIN and then has the courage to face the media afterward by answering questions in his second language. He flubbed the answer a bit but talked about how he needs to be a better teammate.

The Mets, a trash organization, take in all of the above and DFA him despite his 3.76 ERA this year.

Man, now knowing this and how his words were lost in translation, I rescind my thoughts on this guy, he's human after all, feel sorry for the dude honestly.

I had a good laugh when he did it, but throwing equipment is a fine. Nice souvenir no doubt.

I was also confused by how angry everybody seemed to be at him. I assumed that there must be some other history but didn't care enough to look into it. Based on his actions alone I didn't think it was that big of a deal, especially considering the stuff with his son, which I didn't know about but I'm sure they did.

What's gotten into Jack Flaherty? He's pitching like the ace you thought he'd develop into when he was 22/23

Command is way better. The stuff has always looked good, he’s just been walking way too many the last couple seasons.

Maybe he figured something out with mechanics

John Means and Tyler Wells both getting TJS. Means is probably finished.

Didn’t Means take the non-surgery route last year and now ends up with TJs anyways?? Rough for him.

Lets see if the same happens with Cole. And possibly Manoah now too.

Ah s*** no, just read this is Means’ 2nd TJ surgery in 2 years. RIP

Reminds me of Daniel Hudson. Got TJS, then tore his UCL again in his first rehab start and had to get another one.

Mariners fired their bench coach & OC who they just hired before the season

I don’t know they used the term OC. Like is that batting and stealing bases?

194 on the year, and higher than 266 this month, he just went 3-4 with 2 more dingers, it's obscene, most XBH in their history passing Dimaggio, Ruth, Mantle and someone else that slipped my mind. Mind blowing s***.

Yeah just realized the stats I listed aren’t even up to date. Monster May

Romano wasn't available for Friday's game against the Pirates due to elbow soreness, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

Analysis

Manager John Schneider said Romano's elbow has not recovered properly following his last outing Wednesday against the White Sox. The team is officially labeling his injury as "soreness" for now, but the Jays should have a better idea of what Romano is dealing with ahead of Saturday's contest. The 31-year-old righty has not looked like his usual self this season, posting a 6.59 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 13.2 innings.

Varsho was unavailable for Friday's game against the Pirates due to food poisoning, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Analysis

Varsho's absence Friday shielded him from facing left-hander Bailey Falter, but the Blue Jays have now revealed they held the 27-year-old out due to illness rather than an unfavorable matchup. Davis Schneider moved from second base to left field Friday to cover for Varsho, and he may continue to do so if Varsho's condition doesn't improve Saturday.

I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if Romano ends up having TJS. Would be a sad way to end his Blue Jays tenure but he's been phenomenal for the team.

Officially on the IL now, we’ll see…

No structural damage according to MRI though. I don't know if this precludes degenerative condition of the elbow ligaments though in that the overall structure is weakened and becoming more prone to catastrophic failure.

I saw that just after posting lol. They did say they need to see how his elbow reacts to rest so who knows if some warning sign might be there.
