Death, taxes, and IKF moaning in 2024. 3 things that are inevitable

Are you saying we're all gonna die in 2024 once everyone has completed their taxes and IKF goes 0-8 with back to back golden sombreros? I wouldn't doubt it.

2024 will be terrible all yeah for him, but you can count on Max popping in on the subject every now and again to share small sample sizes where he’s not bad.

I've said repeatedly that IKF will most likely continue to be a below average bat but simply pointed out there is actually some potential upside. He managed to post a .750 OPS over a nearly 4 month sample last season and this was easily the longest stretch of sustained success of his entire career. He hit a stretch where he didn't appear in any games for a 10 day stretch. I haven't been able to determine if this was injury related or he was simply benched. Around this timeframe in Mid August the wheels completely came off as his strikeout rate experienced a dramatic upwards spike and his numbers completely cratered the rest of the way over a small sample of at bats.

Or that dad bod reliever on Toronto, name escapes me right now, he came out to Millar for an interview and he had only a jock on underneath, lol. He was in his late 30's near 40 a few years back.

Bet he gets to travel with team now.........

Would he want to? If I'm the radio guy, I'm not 100% sure I want to be travelling around - away from my family all the time. If I can do my job and get paid the same to call the game from Toronto and sleep in my bed each night - that might be preferred. I'm sad to see Ben Wagner go - I thought he was good. They ought to have fired Buck and promoted Ben IMO.

Took the family to the ATL @ TB game this afternoon. Opener for TB. Place was f***ing packed. It was incredible to smell the hot dogs and fresh grass again. My boys got balls signed by Kelenic and Michael Harris and got a couple of game balls. It was like 24 degrees and sunny as f*** - a perfect day for baseball. Man have I missed it!

We're off to see BAL @ ATL on Monday!

That’s a good point I hadn’t considered. Makes them back to the Jays and Cubs respectively even more likely. I could see Rogers giving them the go ahead even though I took dean’s side earlier in the offseason. The longer it goes the more likely a one year deal at the QO price might get it done.

Over a comp pick?

Who else is really in play for these guys? Cubs, Jays, Giants, maybe the Angels? Unless Colorado comes knocking out of the blue again

A late comp pick isn't hurting his FA, mate.

Well, it certainly didn’t help

Bellinger to the Cubs for 3/80 lolll

Damn I kinda wish we had gone for that.

Great news on a Sunday morning! AAV is 6M too high compared to what I considered the "reasonable max" offer of 20M AAV. I would have offered 55-60M for 3 years max. For 75-80M I would have had to get a 4th year from Boras.

Let's hope we "lose out" on Chapman too if his AAV ends up being north of 20M as well.

You legit think a late comp pick is the reason? lmao... he just got 3/80 guaranteed!

No it’s not THE reason, but it is a part of the equation

That's a best case scenario for Bellinger fantasy owners isn't it

No pressure of a big deal in a new place.

Cubs made the most sense because other teams would have had to give up a comp pick to sign him.

No issue with that Bellinger deal. Win/win for both sides. If he has another season where he posts 4-5 WAR, he likely opts out and Cubs benefit. He might even think twice about opting out depending on the FA market and how successful he is. Regardless, 80M guaranteed, so good for Belly and not a long term commitment for the Cubs if Belly does suck.

Chapman 1/20 get it done

I’ve been saying that is highly likely all offseason. Don’t know if we have any money for it now though. I think we do. I can totally see boras bullying Atkins into a deal like bellinger so boras can save face. This could be the new version of the pillow contract going forward

I think Chapman likely comes back to the Jays. Not as much guaranteed money as Bellinger, but could see him signing a 2-3 year deal around $60M or so with opt-outs. If the Jays could bring back Chappy on a 1-year deal around $20M, would be perfect!
