Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 I was having a great morning and then this happens
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Author Posted December 27, 2023 They're going all D-value here, I'd imagine a big bat or 2 is next. Welp!
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Doubling down on that run prevention mantra eh?
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Dumpster diving. Would have preferred to solve 3b via trade.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Hopefully we can focus on Votto or Belt next, plus trades....Bo is more moveable now then ever....
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Awful. Not only a completely marginal player but somehow got a 2nd guaranteed year.
bluejaysinternNo5 Verified Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Does this mean he’s the full time 3B to start the season? If so I can see him being pushed out later in the season if Barger or Orlevis push him out. If he can provide great defence at 3B then I don’t hate it considering the alternative was to give a declining Chapman 5+ years.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Dumpster diving. Would have preferred to solve 3b via trade. He's a bench guy, no way he's a starter. More moves to come
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Awful. Not only a completely marginal player but somehow got a 2nd guaranteed year. Yeah this would be a lot more palatable at like 1/7 or something
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Hopefully we can focus on Votto or Belt next, plus trades....Bo is more moveable now then ever.... Interesting comment there...... when combined with Sorrow's buddy saying a big trade is in the works
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 He's a bench guy, no way he's a starter. More moves to come Espinal role
MikeM3 Verified Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Isn't his entire value from shortstop defence. I'm so confused. This is Tanner Roarkian
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Anyone who wants the Jays to play one of the kids at 3B should love this. IKF is not going to block anyone. But his defensive numbers at 3B are elite. He also played thru injury last year, healthy he is still a bad bat, but less bad than last year
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 I don't know why people hate this All metrics say he is a plus defensive 3B This is like Whit Merrifield with more defensive utility Team can still upgrade and IKF can be a bench player 2/$15 is nothing. He's young. Also maybe frees up Espinal for a trade?
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 He's a bench guy, no way he's a starter. More moves to come If that is the case, which I am not sure it is, I would have preferred Rosario.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 They're going all D-value here, I'd imagine a big bat or 2 is next. Welp! Funny you say that, because Yankees fans nicknamed him “I Kant Field”

Laika Community Moderator Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Funny you say that, because Yankees fans nicknamed him “I Kant Field” He was probably stretched at SS Dude came up as a C, won a GG at third base, then the Yankees in all their wisdom decided he was a CF and SS

He's young. Also maybe frees up Espinal for a trade? Can we realistically expect any sort of value for Espinal? I sure hope Atkins has money to burn and this is just a raise the floor move for a couple more signings/trades.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 If that is the case, which I am not sure it is, I would have preferred Rosario. Same
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Isn't his entire value from shortstop defence. I'm so confused. This is Tanner Roarkian 19 DRS and 22 OAA in 1200 innings at 3B. Those are elite 3B numbers

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Author Posted December 27, 2023 Funny you say that, because Yankees fans nicknamed him “I Kant Field” Not sure what to tell ya, bro? He's an elite left side infielder, look it up. We now have 4 players on the MLB club that can catch...
BatFlip Verified Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 19 DRS and 22 OAA in 1200 innings at 3B. Those are elite 3B numbers OK, those are indeed elite.
