John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Yeah, I mean. I just wouldn’t have wanted to watch any of the stuff you do. It’s like thinking about germs and then if you ever go through food safety and learn about bacteria. When you go to eat that 3 hour old sandwich that didn’t hit the fridge, if you think you about that stuff, you’re not eating it. Ignorance is bliss for me. The chances of food borne illness is relatively low overall. The guidelines are what they are because of being ultra safe. Also, highly dependant on the type of food your leaving out. If you leave out a sandwich made from store-bought full of junk bread, processed meats, a kraft single cheese slice and your basic hellmans mayo, you could leave that on the counter overnight and not have much of an issue thanks to all the garbage preservatives in it. homemade bread, real cheese, a nice chunk of beef from the roast you got from your neighbor and cooked last night, plus homemade mayo.... yeah, eat that s*** quick.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Side note, the ads have finally caught up with me, nothing but Wendy's spicy chicken banners now. Thank the flying f***in spaghetti monster i dont have to stare at cucumber mint water ads anymore
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 You asses ruined my lunch Eat more chiken

What im frequently guilty of, is leaving out pizza overnight and eating the leftovers the next day. I don’t like what happens to refrigerated pizza. I mean, I can eat cold pizza but don’t prefer it that way. And heating it up, just not a fan
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Eat more chiken It's not chicken.

Laika Community Moderator Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Mods can we make a new thread for f***ing chicken talk absolutely not
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 So Ohtani will make a decision on Sunday. So we have 4 more days of food talk.

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 toaster oven Air fryer and frying pan with a lid on top are both great options as well.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 New food topic as we wait for the Ohtani decision... Saturated fats... good or evil?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 toaster oven Frying pan with the slightest bit of water with the lid on.....Money.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Air fryer and frying pan with a lid on top are both great options as well. Especially a good cast iron pan. Nothing cooks better

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Man, imagine if Ohtani signs with the Dodgers and we hear Soto is gone to the Yankees on the same day. It seems like the most likely scenario but man, that would be so depressing.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 New food topic as we wait for the Ohtani decision... Saturated fats... good or evil? I haven't kept up with recent research given how often the prevailing opinion seems to shift but I would guess good in moderation?
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Anyone who won't eat leftover pizza that's been left on the counter overnight is f***ing dead to me. I don't know man, the only way I would leave pizza on the counter overnight is if I got pass out drunk and didn't get a chance to fridge the pizza. Once I woke up I would be far too hungover to even consider food in the first place.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 I haven't kept up with recent research given how often the prevailing opinion seems to shift but I would guess good in moderation? More like, it depends on the type of saturated fat. All saturated fats are not the same. The smaller carbon chain ones like myristic acid, palmitic acid seem to have a much higher impact on serum cholesterol than larger ones like Stearic acid. Also depends on what your combining them with in your diet. Lots of processed garbage carbs and stuff = worse. Generally whole food unprocessed type of diet = better. Much of people's high cholesterol problems is also found to be heavily related to being genetically pre-disposed, much like hypertension. A bad diet makes it demonstrably worse though As with many things, nuance and details are key to proper understanding. The above is a very high level overview
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Disagree. Hungover counter pizza is one of the joys of life Unfortunately my constitution has never allowed me to eat anything when dealing with a hangover. I don't suffer from headaches but nausea always kicks me squarely in the nuts anytime I overindulge in the tasty adult beverages.

If you still have the thought capacity to do this before you pass out, drink a few glasses of water. Sure, you might wake up with a raging need to piss, but I find it helps
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Especially a good cast iron pan. Nothing cooks better I've considered buying one of these from time to time, but I'm not convinced I eat enough types of food that would directly benefit from this method of cooking. Aside from the obvious pizza, what else do you like to cook on cast iron? I'd guess that grilled cheese sandwiches and steaks would be appropriate for a cast iron pan, but what else is it good for? How do you find the maintenance/upkeep requirements for keeping it in tip top shape?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 US media dunking all over Ohtani for the way he's handled free agency. Chris Russo and Stephen A on First Take went in on him for it. The Canadian media hasn't done anything except post praying emojis that he signs with the Jays. Your choice, Shohei.

How do you find the maintenance/upkeep requirements for keeping it in tip top shape? Virtually anything you can cook in a non-stick pan is better in cast iron imo. As for upkeep, wash it thoroughly and dry after every use. Make sure it's dryer than a popcorn fart before you put it away. Seasoning it once a month is likely often enough. 1 layer of seasoning takes , pour in some canola or vegetable oil, spread it all around inside and out, turn the pan upside down and put it in the oven for an hour at 350, then let it cool before taking it out. 1 layer of seasoning done. Repeat if you want more than one layer of seasoning. DO more often if you sear with high heat regularly.

Sure, you might wake up with a raging need to piss, but I find it helps I always try to rehydrate at least a little bit before hitting the hay after drinking. I used to gulp down a bottle of gatorade but I don't think the sugar would likely be doing me any favors. More important for myself is to avoid overindulging in the first place. The best way for me to accomplish this is to completely avoid spirits in all except for very casual circumstances as I simply don't have the ability to regulate my alcohol intake when partaking of this type of alcohol. I'm smaller in stature and as a result I find that spirits always sneak up on me and I'm absolutely hammered before I know it. It took me far too many years to eventually determine that hard alcohol would inevitably lead me to trouble but I've been far better off since switching to other alcohol sources. It took 1 day hangovers eventually morphing into two day and even occasionally three day hangovers to finally clue me into the need to make some changes.

I wouldn't be upset if Stephen A Smith got hit by a car, or was found to be a pedo or something. I have no idea why he has an audience.
