Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 3 things I would like to see today: -Varsho 1 inning at C -Kikuchi out of the pen -Eden or Espinal 1 IP to spell the pen Yea so Kikuchi pitched on Friday so him pitching today in a meaningless game on short rest would be bizarre. Why would they put Varsho behind the plate knowing he hasn't been there all Season. If we're getting blow out I would be fine with position players pitching.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Richards can eat up 4 innings. He will not pitch in the payoffs Richards threw over 30 pitches yesterday, he’s probably not available unless it’s an emergency
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 Richards can eat up 4 innings. He will not pitch in the payoffs He had a really bad strech after coming off the lL. But people are so quick to forgot how good he was the vast majority of the Season.

Today is Kikuchi's scheduled side session and he will almost certainly be coming out of the pen for this coming series Varsho has been doing pitch calling prep ever since Jansen got hurt. He specifically said he hasn't been doing any physical catching because he didn't want to get sore while the games were still meaningful. This is his only chance to get reps before the playoffs
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 Jays knew he was safe but didn't want the base runner lol
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Not that it matters but Belt WAS safe

Masterbather Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 He had a really bad strech after coming off the lL. But people are so quick to forgot how good he was the vast majority of the Season. He always gave up too many home runs and walks. The home runs especially are a concern in the postseason. His change is one of the best in the game but his fastball is mediocre and when he gets hit, he gets hit hard.

keggy Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Zero reason to take a risk of an injury with putting Varsho behind the plate. We'll just have to disagree there
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 We'll just have to disagree there Yeah because I guess it makes sense to put one of the most athletic players and best outfield defenders in baseball in a position much more prone to regular AND freak injuries because he might have to play there in 1 universe out of 100,000 in the next few weeks.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 We'll just have to disagree there I don't like the idea of risking injury to your best OF for one inning when there's almost no chance they will need him there anyway.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 love the quick ABs No doubt, it’s like the Jays just want to get the game over with as fast as possible, and so do the Rays but their balls just keep going through instead of going to gloves.

I know younger Jays fans haven't seen a lot of playoff baseball in their lifetimes, but some of the absolutely most extreme moves have happened in the postseason, and not particularly rarely. If Varsho ever ends up catching and using pitchcomm for the first time, I would much rather it be in a joke game rather than in front of 40,000 screaming fans with the adrenaline rushing
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 160 pitch outing for Parsons? Is he willing?
Masterbather Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Nothing wrong with Bass's LGBTQ statements. But him expecting the airline worker to pick up after him was bad. LOL. Agreed, but he didn't deserve to have his career railroaded for either one of them though. It's wrong what's happening to him.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 160 pitch outing for Parsons? Is he willing? I feel like both Parsons and the Jays should be willing to do this! Make a name for yourself kid.

Makes your argument that much more irrelevant, albeit now it’s understandable why you’d be in favour of something so pointless.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Rays aren’t cooperating with the game plan
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Parsons can’t throw anything near the plate

I'm just telling you that what happens in the playoffs is very different from the 162 game season. You would have to watch a lot of playoff baseball to know that
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Lol wasn’t even a bad pitch in and off the plate and still taken out …2nd Hr of the season for the kid….lol

You would have to watch a lot of playoff baseball to know that Translation “I’m old and I remember something that happened once in 1972 so the Jays would be wise to plan for that…” Just sit down, enjoy the game and stop typing nonsense like it’s some sage advice. It’s not.
