BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Texas is going to win tonight and clinch it for the Jays My son and I will be watching and hoping this is a sound called shot that plays out.
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Castillo is going to shut down the Rangers' offense.
Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 If Jays do back in the playoffs they will be swept. Good riddance to Chapman Merrifield Ryu
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Even if the Rangers win tonight, the Jays shouldn't celebrate and pop champagne until they actually win a playoff game.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 162 meaningful games is a win This has been a dreadful season from an entertainment standpoint. Easily the worst good Jays team in my lifetime.
Steeljays Verified Member Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Surprised we didn't PH babe for KK there. We finally have somewhat of a HR threat on the bench and we didn't use. Sure babes struggling but no overpowering P in the mound there. I thought that would be a spot Ps- I would have never IBB in extras to put more guys on base. If they guy gets a hit then top you hat. It's always the 199 hitters that get you. I remember that Bud biancalana hit that killed us

Jays do not hit and run. Schneider management style is like Earl Weaver Wait for the 3 run homer with pop gun players
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2023 Author Posted September 30, 2023 Mariners losing tonight would be super ideal. Than the Jays can just throw tomorrow and hopefully the Astros win tonight and tomorrow. If that scenario unfolds were extremely happy

Relative to some people's expectations perhaps, but if you live survived the JP Ricciardi era, you could survive a damn nuclear apocalypse.

If that scenario unfolds were extremely happy It's always possible, any baseball game has a potential for weirdness, but it would really be against all odds. Texas does have a great offense though so if they can somehow get Castile off his game, maybe they can just outslug the Mariners.

There was only 1 wild card spot in the J.P. Ricciardi era. Those seasons would have looked a lot like these with the team in it to the last weekend if there were 3 spots. This year would have been over in July if there was only 1 spot. It's a miserable 4 years because they absolutely can't win any big series late in the year and if they complete this choke job will have blown two 98.5% win scenarios (WCG2 2022, Monday Sep 25 playoff probs).

Yeah, no doubt, he also had a lot less money to work with, he probably wasn't as bad at GM as he's remembered as but I did not enjoy his era of baseball.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 just want to say my wife is a big fan. We read the board together every night and she can't get enough of your posts. She has gone through alot health wise recently so the posts have been the one bright spot in her life the last couple months. My wife is annoyed with me and is trying to get me medication and is pretty mad I get so upset about these games. I think that is part of the reason she made the appointment to get me boosted tomorrow during the ill-fated Gausman start (100% true story), thinks the myocarditis will get me knock me down for a few days, or maybe she is trying to kill me. Whatever the case at least I don't have to watch tomorrow. Instead I will be getting boosted to help my wonderful community. So excited.

Well if you do die, you will be missed, you're one of the few on here that actually understands what's really going on.

Governator Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 I've been trying to avoid the tie breaker crap in hopes we just win but my qsn is if Mariners win tonight and Astros lose, where does that put things? Is the only way in is if we win tomorrow or if Mariners lose one of the next two or Astros lose the next 2?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 The only appropriate way for the 2023 Jays to make the playoffs is to have to use Gausman tomorrow, lose, but then still get into the playoffs because the Mariners or Astros lost. Lol bruh

Jays are basically out if that happened.

Everyone including since Ash has had a lot less to money to spend than the 2023 team. We have a $93M rotation alone. JPR I didn’t care for although with more money and 3 wildcard spots it might have looked a lot different.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 So if and when the Mariners lose tonight. I only want to see Bowden Francis, Nate Pearson, Zach Pop, and Yosver Zulueta pitch. Hell find Casey Lawrence and add him to the roster.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Is that Alek's brother? Yes. He's the better pitcher.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 Jays clinched the 2nd WC. We haven't clinched the second wild card yet. We clinched a berth but not the second wild card. We can still finish third.
