Espinal is not the player he was when he accumulated that WAR. You have to stop with that s***. That Espinal doesn't exist anymore.

His skillset completely fell off a cliff.

He’s like Biggio but just 2 years behind in his career track

I'm still taking Biggio going forward. Ultimately I would be fine with moving on from both if we get more talented extra players.

That shouldn't be too difficult, even with in house guys.

Agreed.

Biggio can only really play 2B, 1B & corner OF, he can be upgraded with Horowitz who plays all 3 as well. The downgrade defensively, which won't be much (Biggio isn't some Defensive Stalwart), is massively upgraded offensively.

Espinal is upgraded by Clement who is just as good defensively, possibly better, and far better offensively.

Horowitz also replaces Belt at the same time, which allows us to add someone else to the roster as well.

Schneider replaces Merrifield at 2B/LF.

Then you bring in a FA stopgap at 3B and allow Barger/Martinez to hit their way up in AAA.

Horwitz plays 2nd base???

In a pinch he can. Not ideal but to get his bat in the lineup.

Thank you John Schneider for letting our Starter have a complete outing for once. If you go over 100 pitches it's fine man. Your starters are built for it. Let them eat.

Need a well rested bullpen ahead of big road trip. Multiple days off for relievers is important to keep them fresh.

Biggio is s*** defensively in the outfield, really it should only be 1B/2B, and even at 2B his defense has been heavily declining. Also Horwitz is only a 1B/DH at the major league level. If could play any of the other positions you think he can play he would have been called up by now with how well he's been hitting. Posters debating Biggio vs Espinal are debating garbage vs trash.

Makes it even more confusing that both guys have been ELITE hitters previously in their careers. It just doesn’t make any sense

Yeah it’s why I think it’s more a mental issue or issues behind the scenes? I dunno

Well, today is the antithesis of yesterday. Still plenty of time, still a lot of West teams going to face one another, still four games left with Texas. It's going to be a challenge but it was always going to be a challenge. As far as our easier schedule goes, we got the two tougher of our easier scheduled teams out of the way. Need to win at least seven of them next nine.

So Espinal has a bad 200 PAs and "he's not the player he was." "Stop with that s***." (all I did was say he's better than Biggio or should at least be treated similarly)

Biggio has a garbage 800 PAs (including 0.1 WAR on the year which is being treated as some sort of career renaissance) and "he brings substantially more to the diamond in all aspects of the game" despite being out WAR'd 3x over the past 3 years.

Makes zero sense pal.

I personally love this language but Silvio's head is going to explode when he reads it lol

This shouldn't surprise you at all Term.

Is the shine wearing off on Jackson?

Seems so. That’s ok though we have a handful of other guys we can put our trust in. Jackson is like 7th/8th best right now, and moves down further when Green arrives.

He is found money pretty much and was pitching better and in more leverage than anyone expected. I think he continues to be the up/down guy in various roles but less leverage. He throws more sliders than Sergio Romo haha. Bound to miss and get crushed at times.
