TorontonianJD Verified Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 DFA Espinal after tonight. Jesus.. Then who plays 3rd when Chapman can’t?
TorontonianJD Verified Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 At the game. Springer obviously injured. Any guesses as to what? He was visibly limping after the last at bat.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Well that was less than ideal.
PhillyBlueJay Verified Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Time for a Pat Gillick trade in the off-season. Trade Vladdy (For reasons discussed) and Bo (He is not signing extension ego aside) to the San Diego Padres for two players!!! Let’s go discuss…

PhillyBlueJay Verified Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Injured between the ears. He's finished. Soto and Machado? Well some would agree those two players match up fill 3rd base next year and slugger in the outfield. I just think of Pat Gillick trading Fred Mcgriff and Tony Fernandez for Joe Carter and Roberto Alomar. Was a huge gamble on Gillick to do this considering Mcgriff was top AL leader in home runs and RBI’s and Fernandez a former all star. There was no WAR back then to dertermine value like today but Gillick saw potential in Alomar and Carter was an RBI guy. Gillick did this trade not for player production but just saw the team in 1990-1991 needed a change in attitude and chemistry. Same can be said for this team in 2023, not a team that can win it all but a significant shake up of team chemistry! Would Padres trade Soto and Machado probably not, but I’m sure it would be a close match with 3 years left of Bo and Vladdy with Soto only having 2 years left and Machado huge contract off the books for other free agents for Padres. Obviously Padres chemistry not working the best either so…

Lee was every bit as good defensively at SS but a step down with the bat, Olerud was initially a step down with the bat in 1991 and 1992 but turned the page nicely in 1993. I doubt that trade ever happens without Olerud and Lee being ready to step in
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Extend Biggio. Always liked him. 48 hour ban for being so wrong today

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Manny “right between the wickets” Lee. He had moments of course but was very good defensively overall.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 He had moments of course but was very good defensively overall. I have never forgiven him for those gaffes at the end of the season when Tony was injured.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 48 hour ban for being so wrong today Never in my entire life have I seen that much glee over a player who hit a couple of singles. It was like the guy got his 3000th hit last night or something Which I think proves my larger point. The hits have been so few and far between for this guy that a two single game causes his fanboys to literally lose their minds with excitement (the fanboys were even entertaining benching Vlad in favor of Biggio).

Just take the loss and move on man. Your stubborn refusal to simply admit when your trolling attempts are going off of the rails just ends up making you look even more foolish.

Your stubborn refusal to simply admit when your trolling attempts are going off of the rails just ends up making you look even more foolish. There is no loss to be taken. The guy hit two singles and everyone is planning a parade that he finally got his OPS over .700 for the first time in 3 years. It's remarkable.

I know you aren't nearly as dumb as you are making yourself out to be right now. Nobody here is saying Biggio is the best thing since sliced bread, but he's hot right now and has been going back nearly 3 months or half a season. The team is struggling immensely to score runs so they are rightly riding the hot hand in Biggio who has earned himself more playing time with his offensive contributions. Maybe he's figured something out that allows him to have more success moving forward and maybe it's just an unsustainable hot streak but time will ultimately tell. If he reverts back to the weak offensive player of past years then he will accordingly see his playing time reduced. If he continues to produce like he is right now he will find his name pencilled into the lineup with regularity. A normal fan of a team would be happy when a player takes a step forward and helps his team, I really don't know what's wrong with your head to so actively cheer against a player on your team finding success.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 You were screaming your lungs out that he was in the lineup over Schneider. What did Schneider do yesterday? Please remind me I don't know I turned the game off because I was pissed and fired off several drunken emails to Rogers telling them how to run the team. The only person that ever answers my phone calls anymore is the Jays Care Foundation so I called them up this morning and let the lady that answered the phone have it as well. Hopefully she gets my message to the team. But I just looked it up and apparently Schneider got a meaningless pinch hit AB late in the game and struck out. So there you have it, case closed. Stankyleg with the bodyslam and the fanboys have me beat. Biggio hit two singles to get his OPS above .700 for the first time this decade and Schneider struck out. Looks like it's checkmate for ole Terminator here.
