Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Keegan Matheson @KeeganMatheson The trade is official: #BlueJays acquire: RHP Jordan Hicks Cardinals acquire: RHP Sem Robberse RHP Adam Kloffenstein Mitch White has been DFA'd to make room on the 40-man. Holy f*** what. Both of them.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Solid trade, pricey, but much needed. You think giving up Kloffenstein is a mistake? He may turn into something?
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 His health. If he's not healthy he won't even be on the roster to start with.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Honestly those were our two best bets to potential cheap back end rotation arms for an expensive roster. And they both got traded. Jesus lol Apparently we don't plan to develop our own starters again.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 If he's not healthy he won't even be on the roster to start with. He hasn't been 100% for weeks since the all star game and was on the roster. Back problems can be lingering hence he may have to be deployed more carefully, therefore Hicks may have to come to the fore as closer.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Romano is closer A and Hicks can be B Yeah, I think so, by committee as I stated.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Yeah, I think so, by committee as I stated. I knew what you meant, lol... availability and options now, feels good.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 You think giving up Kloffenstein is a mistake? He may turn into something? And Robberse, the other dude too.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Yes, they're both better bets than Tiedemann. Tiedeman is almost certainly going to be a lot more than a cheap back end of the rotation arm.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 C'mon man, you going do this again? lol... Every. Damn. Time. Gonna be hearing daily Kloff and Robberse updates for the next couple years
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 And Robberse, the other dude too. Who needs a 6'5" 22 year old right hander like Kloffenstien anyways?
Rafters Verified Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Was hoping for O’Neil as part of the trade to be a RH platoon guy
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 With Pearson scuffling I really like this addition
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Author Posted July 30, 2023 I swear somewhere AA is laughing at Shatkins for the moves they've made the past few years that have led to us having one of the worst Farm Systems in the game. At least when AA did it, we had the best team in baseball on paper. Right now, we could easily still finish last in our division lol.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Was hoping for O’Neil as part of the trade to be a RH platoon guy Cards aren't trading O'Neill, they're selling all their guys in there final year, that's it.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Yes, they're both better bets than Tiedemann. Tiedemann is a top of the rotation arm potential shush you. Guess we’re going in hard with Ricky T That appears to be the case. At worst he's a power back ends arm but it would be lovely if he's Chris Sale. C'mon man, you going do this again? lol... Every. Damn. Time. I'm not doing anything agian. I am just absolutely shocked. Would have been nice to give up one of the projected relievers. Both of those guys are Starters and we need to develop back end arms so they stop buying it. Gonna be hearing daily Kloff and Robberse updates for the next couple years And rightfully so. This trade will need to be revaluated over a 6-year span atleast. I do believe both those guys are back of the rotation arms. Neither are gonna be elite. But still extremely valuable. Cardinals got themselves a couple starters.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Gonna be hearing daily Kloff and Robberse updates for the next couple years Look at the clown that started this thread, took him off the IL so I can read this thread, lol.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Who needs a 6'5" 22 year old right hander like Kloffenstien anyways? He doesn't have elite stuff. But I see him having a solid career. A 4.5 era guy and innings eater. Valuable bottom of the rotation arm.

It's the market price idiot, there were other teams in on him.

We're better now than we were an hour ago; and an hour ago we were pretty good.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Lmao he's been the Cards closer for over a month now. He's pitched in high leverage situations. lmfao. What did my post say?

I called this reaction just yesterday in regards to a Hader addition, yet here we are. lol... best reliever on the market and you bitch.

Whose bitching lol. Read my comment again. And Hader is different animal. Hicks has only started missing bats this year. That's been my issue with him in past. Obviously throws hard. Elite ground ball rate. But now he's missing bats which elevated him.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2023 Author Posted July 30, 2023 What? We're better now than we were an hour ago; and an hour ago we were pretty good. Well of course we're better at the major league level. I'm just mentioning how piss poor our "waves of young talent" is looking like in the farm system. This is what Shatkins built their entire motto over. Just found the "all in" moves hilarious when we're not even a better team now than we were back in 2015. That's all lol. Regardless, team this needs 1 more high impact bat and I think we're in a good spot.
