Everytime I hear Bellinger, I go crazy. The dude is having an awesome season and looks like he's back into his MVP form.

Can we stop talking/acting like Ohtani is actually getting traded? The Angels are only 4.5 games out of a playoff spot

It’s fun though. I don’t think the clear front runner for MVP has ever been traded at the deadline before and it can change the entire dynamic of Baseball. The Angels have absolutely no shot of making the playoffs regardless of their current record. If Trout was healthy I would think differently. But they have to sell otherwise they are royally f***ing themselves.

Supercut of "rock star" Cody Bellinger lacing doubles all across the ballpark this year.

What a talent he is. Great for baseball that he's back in MVP form.

Great signing by the Cubs. It's a credit to their analytics team to know that he'd be able to repeatedly hit doubles like this to help propel him to a 60 point over performance compared to his xwOBA.

*hugs*

Does Bellinger look like the guy that f***ed your crush in High School or something Sherm?

It’s a feel good story that Bellinger has bounced beck and seemingly found himself. And yet you s*** on him daily lol. Makes no f***ing sense.

Like clockwork I make one (highly accurate) critique this afternoon about their golden boy and the three Co-Presidents of the Bellinger Fan Club come crawling out of their hole to start simping for their guy.

I literally posted video evidence to back up the fact that he's getting lucky as hell (because you guys are either color blind or can't understand a Statcast page) and the three stooges come out and start chanting MVP while holding hands. Next thing you know they'll start s***ing on our very own Kevin Kiermaier again to make themselves feel better. Sad!

Yeah it wouldn't make sense to trade for him. The team is fairly well positioned from a current roster (we've got some good players under control), finances (this isn't great but not bad) and prospect standpoint (also not great but things have improved a lot the past month) but trading for Ohtani throws that all out of whack.

There's a decent argument for the jays to trade for him, but it's so far out of the realm of possibility it's not really worth discussing.

Tim Anderson? Man he not a good fielder, and his bat has been hopeless this year. I don't know why he is even being talked about, if he is.

A negative WAR player this year with a 56 wRC+. Someone might want him for cheap looking for a dead cat bounce.

Cardinals and Hicks nearing a contract extension reports Katie Woo of the Athletic. Woo suggests there’s a good chance a deal can be finalized within the next day.

That pretty much takes him off the trade market.

Somewhat interesting as a RHB this year and Whit replacement for next year but the problem with him is the team option for next year is pretty expensive at 14M. That's a pretty big number for a reclamation project.

I think if anyone was trding for him it would be with the plan to decline that option in any case. 111 wRC+ against lefties this season, 132 career.

Cheap acquisition to be sure, but not sure he would be what they'd be looking for as a true lefty killing threat.

I still say the Jays should kick tires on old man Scherzer.

At worst he's a reliable #3/4 down the stretch, but the upside is legit game 1 playoff starter. Given his age and contract he probably wouldn't cost a ton of prospect capital either.

I think we would need to give them Bassitt in return or something in order to offload some money.

Amir Garett signed a minor league deal with the Gaurdians, was a talent at one point

A little surprised the Cardinals didn't make Hicks available, looks like they are extending him instead

Passan is now reporting more teams (than previously reported) are in on Ohtani....

The biggest question of this year’s trade deadline is whether or not the Angels will trade Shohei Ohtani. Unsurprisingly, several rival clubs are interested in acquiring his services, with Jeff Passan of ESPN connecting him to the Rangers, Dodgers, Orioles, Rays and Blue Jays. That’s in addition to reporting from yesterday connecting him to the Diamondbacks and Orioles.

There's no guarantee Scherzer would even be a pitcher you wasn't starting in the post season based on his performance this season. The worst case scenario would be Scherzer suffering injury and missing most of the remainder of the season and getting no return on the investment.

You would have to assume that Berrios, Gausman and Bassitt are starters 1-3 in the post-season followed by whoever is throwing the best between Ryu, Manoah and Kikuchi. That puts the 2 remaining in the BP to be long man? Add in Green and unless you can get a lights out closer/set-up man, where are you adding to the bullpen that will makes sense?

On the field they aren't likely to replace any of the infield and Springer and KK aren't going anywhere. Really only a power bat for LF?

I just don't see a lot of moves that seem likely and would make sense for what you would need to trade to get them. The team has kid of backed itself into a corner regarding what they have on their roster.

I don't think Ohtani gets moved, the Angels are 4.5 GB and they WANT to re-sign him obviously. That's a hard sell to the fanbase trading him while in contention. We'll see I guess.

Atkins is a Chad.

This is the man who has signed stars like George Springer and Kevin Gausman and traded for blue-chip deadline studs like Jose Berrios.

Atkins is anything but gun-shy. He is not afraid of trading top prospects. He chases big ticket talent.

Toronto probably doesn't get Ohtani for obvious reasons but put some damn respect on Atkins' name.

Positive takes aren't sexy for some odd reason on here.

People hear something they don’t like and blow it out of proportion. That’s what’s sexy around here.

I'd take that rental all day, twice on Sunday's.

I would take him but he wouldn’t be my first option. He can help us for sure though.

Who's your first?

I think it would be cool to have Teo back and he won’t cost as much.

Rooker rumour intrigued me. He comes with a lot of control.
