Welcome to the point. A simple tweaking of the rule would remove these incorrect calls.

Except the point makes sense. If it’s too close to call/can go either way, you just defer to what they called on the field.

No it doesn’t make sense except to those who like keeping easily correctable human errors in games.

 

The rule should be written so that if anything goes to review on a force play like this, they should only care about 1 thing and that’s if he’s definitively out. If they can’t make that call, he should be ruled safe.
