Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 In order to change our mojo, I've been saving it for series wins. We've won a couple of series in a row, so let's see. Booooo... lol
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Kikuchi has more wins the Gass-man. Shows what W-L records are worth.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 We're not too proud to beg Omar...don't make it awkward bro. lmao
93 Jays Verified Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Early top 3 for the AL would probably be Gausman, Eovaldi and… 1 of Framber, Ryan, or McClanahan …even though McClanahan getting votes would really just be him benefitting from the W column, he walks way too many for my money to be considered for the Cy. Id probably vote for 4 or 5 other guys before considering McClanahan even for third place if I was voting today. Side note, how much is Seattle missing their offense right now…they have 3 of the top 9 starting arms in the AL by fWAR, and can’t consistently win games thanks to their offense sucking. Agreed
93 Jays Verified Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Wonder where we would be if manoah was his old self
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Wonder where we would be if manoah was his old self Sadly probably only 3rd place But closer to the Orioles and Rays than we are now...

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Gausman's splitter was so filthy today jesus.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 2nd at worse. You think we'd have won at least 5 more games? Maybe but I wouldnt think likely Team didn't score much on a lot of Manoah's starts back in April...

Last year's Manoah to this year's Manoah is night and day... we're talking 4 runs a game, it's a huge difference.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 I'm gonna keep my Gausman Cy Young bet. He's been the best pitcher in the AL.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Well duh, lol. $10 pays $150 when I made the bet. He's now 9 to 1 which is pretty good.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 It's an easy keep on the bet. Yeah just gotta hope Gausman improves on his W-L record, and I think he should be good. McClanahan has been a guy who slows down in the second half and has had some injuries before. Cole despite the 7-0 record hasn't been nearly as good as Gausman, but playing with the Yankees gives him a bit of an advantage.

They don't still look at W/L records do they, I thought that went out the window King Hernandez won.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Nice to see Gausman f*** the Astros up this time after they clobbered him last time. Let's gooooooo!

Not as much as they did, but its still a small factor. If Gerrit Cole or Shane McClanahan both go like 18-4 or win 20 games and with low ERAs and solid K rates, along if their teams make the Postseason, they'll get recognized and would be close. If Gausman goes 15-8 lets say, with a mid 2ish ERA over 200 innings and 250 K's, he should be good. Cole's K numbers (9.49) and walk rate (3.16) are pretty meh so far. His FIP is close to 4 as well. McClanahan needs to keep his ERA in the 2's and he's 9-1 thus far. Though he has had durability issues in the past so I doubt he even tops 200 innings this season. Hopefully Gausman gets the recognition. He's doubled both Cole and McClanahan now in WAR at 3.1 vs. 1.5 for them.
Bailey Verified Member Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Gausman is one of those guys that toys with elite hitters and makes them look foolish. True....but on a consistent basis that is all they got. Where is the jacket? That clubhouse looks very sad looking from last yr. Meanwhile Pineapple is in AZ having fun making sand castles in the sand outside the the clubhouse fence while Vlad sits in the corner of his own clubhouse not having fun at all. This team is not enjoying the game enjoying the game this yr. They are going backward fast, yet there will be the promises of a better yr next!!
