The guy who plays first base is pretty good.

Because they aren't contenders and they have no farm system. They don't to rebuild but they most certainly need to restock. Chapman, Beltman, Merrifield, and Kiermaier should all be moved.

I can see the Bo argument but I feel like on defense and offense Merrifield hasn't had a run of bad throws/errors/hitting slumps while the other have.

Bichette grades better defensively than Merrifield this season. So the bat makes it nowhere close, Whit's been great for us though.

If Gaus could throw that slider a little more....he'd be even better IMO, especially if he could throw it for strikes consistently. I think it would get him deeper into games and keep hitters off his split. Verlander did it masterfully and has hitters on the defensive almost every AB. That slider/change and curve combo have made him a beast.
