A couple of those runs were un-earned weren't they? Plus the team has been out-homered 8-3 I believe. No add-on runs after a big couple of innings.

Yes, but the baseline for the pitchers was still the same. If your offense scores at least 5 runs per game, you should have a good chance to win all those games with adequate pitching.

What’s going to be really interesting is to see what the Blue Jays FO does if the Jays are out of playoff contention at the trade deadline. Which I actually think is a possibility!

Their pitching has had issues (both starting, and relieving), and they have position players who have had really lousy starts to the season....and yet they're still on a 97 win pace. And based on that, you think there's a good chance they're out of contention by the deadline?

That's some chicken little s*** right there.

There’s absolutely no way the jays are selling at the deadline. Even if they’re under 500.

At worst they’ll stand pat. But they’ll likely make a handful of small moves for relievers/bench pieces like they have in the past.

Jays are definitely going to need to add a bat at some point. I have feeling they will stand fairly pat on the pitching side. Especially if Ryu and Green emerge at some point.

We definitely don’t want to see another flame thrower traded for a Mitch White type.

I don't think they need to add a starting calibre bat, but potentially upgrade on the depth if Belt-Biggio-Espinal continue to give us nothing. The team has the 9th highest wRC+ and that's with Springer being garbage(/highly underperforming expected stats), Varsho not getting hot with the stick, Jansen also underperforming, and Kirk sleepwalking to a 120 wRC+.

I know it's early but a left-handed bat probably has to be at the top of the shopping list given the struggles of Belt. Doesn't have to be a superstar but someone who could DH and occasionally play in the field. Afterwards, they'll likely target bench/bullpen pieces as they always do.

As long as their starting rotation stays healthy, I don't think they'll look at adding a starter, unless it's an elite arm. Plus in the Postseason, you only need 3-4 starters. But we'll see.

Some LHB's who could be targets:

- Joc Pederson

- Gavin Sheets

- Seth Brown

- Jake Fraley

- Charlie Blackmon (Rockies would have to eat some money)

- Mike Moustakas

- Corey Dickerson

Should be plenty of LHBs available.

Boston is one of my favourite cities and sports town to visit. You can't beat their seafood!

Between the Boston Marathon which I've done several times, a few times I had meetings with clients for biomed stuff, and games at Fenway I've been to Boston 50 times over the last 20 years and had a great experience each time.

Admittedly these kind of activities will show you the best of the city, I can only assume Grant must have somehow ended up in a bad part of Boston with the Irish mob and other various un-kempt, un-civilized hooligans and gotten a different impression.

It certainly seemed from watching it that the ump had a good night. I was always holding my breath that pitches just outside the box would get called strikes, from bad experiences the last few fames, but he was very consistent with it. The one glaring missed call was on a pitch where Jansen was standing to indicate to Kikuchi to throw a high fastball and he missed all the way down in the zone for which he had to reach for it. I remember Joe Siddall even calling out Jansen’s receiving on that particular pitch.

Pederson is a nice fit IMO

Pederson would be perfect LF/1B/DH

Has power obviously has played and performed well in big moments. Give us a legit lefty bat you can put in the middle of the lineup.
