One thing about Alek. He's got the balls to pitch out of a jam. As I said before, people got their expectations out of whack because of his ERA last year but he's more of a good 3/4 type guy, he's miscast as a number one for sure.

It has nothing to do with pressure. Last year, I was disappointed if he threw a 93 FB. This year 93 is his max (or close to it).

I can't help but think how much better off we would be if Gausman had taken the pressure starts. Manoah gets too pumped up for these big starts and just can't handle the pressure. He'll learn as his career progresses, but he's not there.

 

Anyone who thinks last inning was a product of reduced velocity wasn't watching very closely. It's 100% mental.
