Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 The disrespect to Reed Johnson's iconic goatee. But yeah that's Joe Inglett. Believe it or not, he didn't have the goatee in his early years with the Blue Jays. It looks weird seeing old pictures.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 The Green and Halladay trades and Delgado leaving left me pretty sour. The Interbrew and early years of Rogers ownership sucked as a Jays fan. Interbrew era was brutal, to say the least. Oof... I don't get why Grant brought up Canada, he had no problem staying with the Jays evidently.

This is straight from Gord Ash: "Shawn made it clear that his intention was not to sign a long-term contract in Toronto and his preference was to play in a U.S. market" I don't know if that's true, but it's the most direct source I could find.

Yeah, all you can do is determine probabilities and it would lean towards the GM telling the truth. He risks the player coming back and calling him a liar. The player knows the team wouldn’t toss him under the bus, and he doesn’t come off like an unappreciative d-bag. It’s always easy to revise history when nobody cares if you do Edited January 31, 2023 by connorp

I recall at the time that Green did make comments suggesting Ash wasn't being honest. The Jays didn't want to pony up the cash, Green preferred the west coast. An agreement was impossible.

Yeah, I wasn’t suggesting there wouldn’t be any motivation to distort the truth by the team, it’s just I think most players would really object to that publicly if it wasn’t true. So if he did at the time, goes to a best guess probably. Or a middle area
