G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 That's the thing though, its not these 3 catches that made him a great CF, it was the 3 and 4 star plays that he made look routine and barely above routine that made him a great CF. Yeah He made routine and difficult plays look so easy and made them so often
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2023 Author Posted January 21, 2023 I thought Varsho was now #25 No photos yet though
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Shannon Stewart was so fun back to watch. Good thing I don't remember his fielding.
The_DH Verified Member Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 As I said: Devo was worth the price of admission.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 I thought Varsho was now #25 Im not sure he chose that number or if it was assigned to him. Spring training will confirm it
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 #24 for the Jays really is a wasteland of nobodies, with the exception of Rickey Henderson in 1993, Shannon Stewart and Ricky Romero. Who could forget household names like Chuck Hartenstein, Willie Aikens, Glenallen Hill, Jim Acker, Greg Cadaret, Turner Ward, Dave Righetti, Bobby Kielty, Sean Douglass, Mariano Duncan, Paul Spoljaric and Nate Pearson?

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 maybe when we get to #1 we should have a poll of which number had the most years of greatness. Just off the top of my head #19 might be on the short list
The_DH Verified Member Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Just off the top of my head #19 might be on the short list Yeah I'd think 19 (Joey Bats plus McGriff) and 25 (Delgado and White) would be up there and 12 would have the most decent seasons (between Whitt and Alomar)
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Yeah I'd think 19 (Joey Bats plus McGriff) and 25 (Delgado and White) would be up there and 12 would have the most decent seasons (between Whitt and Alomar) #19 is even better when you recall who wore it from 1993-1995.
The_DH Verified Member Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 #19 is even better when you recall who wore it from 1993-1995. I figure #25 had 13 years of elite player years (assume all years are elite for a player who is elite) and #19 had 16 -- so Molitor breaks that tie. #37 had Stieb for 14 years.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Rickey Henderson paid Turner Ward $5000 for #25
The_DH Verified Member Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Rickey Henderson paid Turner Ward $5000 for #25 That was #24 actually. And Rocket gave a Rolex for #21.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 That’s right, Joey Bats first wore #23
