Yeah, it's frustrating for sure to be where the team is right now, especially when you can see guys like Vlad who should be a perennial MVP candidate with 6+ fWAR, and he's hitting like an average 1B maybe putting up 2.5, Manoah falling off a cliff... hell, just those 2 things alone has probably cost the Jays in the neighborhood of 5 wins in the first 70 games.

Varsho's been more valuable than Vlad so far this year. That's about all you need to know about that lazy POS.

Wow. I just looked and Varsho does have a higher WAR than Vlady. I have to be honest, I'm not that great with some stats and don't really understand how that's possible. I've seen people say they don't put much faith in WAR because it has it's issues, but I'm not savvy enough to know one way or the other.

Well, Vlad is pretty much to stupidest baserunner in baseball and he has no defensive value

Varsho has a fringe hit tool but provides positive value in every other facet of the game

funny enough Varsho has a higher ISO and HR count than Vladdy. Hitting for more power!!!! lmao

THing is, this is about where you'd expect Varsho to be given his skillset, sure maybe a slight disappointment in overall hitting, but the D and baserunning is as good as advertised. Vlad is such a massive disappointment that it's ridiculous. He had a lightbulb moment in the 2020 offseason and came into 2021 slimmer, better and focused, then decided no more effort was needed after his MPV caliber season. He's been coasting since then.

The fact that Vlad's ISO is .169 is so far past terrible I don;t think there's an English word to describe it. He should be a right handed Freddy Freeman, instead he's a right handed Josh Naylor.

This is looking a bit too realistic for my liking. I was really hoping my boys would get to see the Jays win the World Series when they were young (like I did) and that would cement their love for the team/game. That just seems quite unlikely at this time, as it appears we've pissed away the opportunity we had. At least I got them to some playoff games along the way.

3 more years minimum, bro. Wow.

I guess that means Varsho should be in the conversation for a $300M deal like Vladdy.

lol c'mon man! You read this board every single day so you know exactly who the big homers are. Do I have to list every single poster?

In any case, I'm not referencing you. I know you're a big Jays supporter but at least your rational.

I asked who said the BP was elite, and on several occasions I've asked who said the fabricated BS you bring up, I'm not sensitive to you saying it's me, I want to see who said these outlandish accusations? And yes, when you call out people, normally you should be able to back it up. So.... nothing to see here, amirite?

Oh yeah, that makes sense. Vlady has made a lot of dumb mistakes on the base paths just in the past couple weeks. I got on Fan Graphs and can see what you're talking about now. Thank you.

Accurate summary of watching Vladimir Guerrero Jr. play baseball:

- ah, he just missed that one!

- ah, i bet vladdy wants that pitch back

- damn, that grounder was right at the second baseman

- shoot, a hard flyout to CF

- dang, that was a meatball why didn't he swing?

- rats, why swing at that?

- nice! a hard single off the LF wall. oh f***, thrown out at second. why risk that there?

- here is Vladdy with the game on the line. let's get a good AB here. first pitch meatball grounded to short, okay. :(

- He looks so frustrated.

- He wants to win and is pressing.

That's what Buck says all the time anyway.

I hope all of you are learning a valuable lesson about fat baseball players this year.

The good news is that when you have to replace him you won't need to worry about replacing him in the 'aggregate' or anything, just a Scott Hattenberg by himself would replace Vlad's WAR.

Very Frustrating player to say the least

I wonder if Rowdy would consider signing here

Very frustrating guy, love the kid, but he needs to get back on track to the April Vlad at the very least, starting tonight.

Vlad isn’t the type of player you sign to long term extension. Just go year to year with him.

They either gotta get Bo done this off-season or trade him if he won’t sign.

Watch what you say about this. Those home run derbies with his buddies in the DR before the season sure got him prepared this year.

I'd bet on a career year for Vlad just before he hits free agency.

Why would we want Rowdy and his negative WAR?

It was a joke in reference to someone saying Vlad is easily replaced by a free agent 1B

So what are we going to do for the next bullpen game?

I guess use the same plan as last time with Richards but we won't have Francis. So I guess Hatch or White are going to have to go multiple innings?

Once Francis is back it would seem like this plan could work ok moving forward but one of them is going to have to be able to pitch the other days or else Francis is going to have to keep being optioned for a fresh arm.

Optioning Francis was stupid as f***, unless they have a phantom injury in the works.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Watch what you say about this. Those home run derbies with his buddies in the DR before the season sure got him prepared this year.

Vlad was actually pretty damn good for the first six weeks of the season so the offseason "home run derby" you like to keep referencing seemed to have worked just fine to get him ready for the season. Vlad's numbers took an absolute nosedive for about 2 weeks or so where he was swinging at way too many pitches out of the strike zone and largely getting himself out at the plate. He's been showing signs of turning things around for about the last week so hopefully he can get back to being more productive.

The most puzzling thing for me about Vlad is the massive gulf between his home and away splits. He's rocking 168 WRC+ on the road vs a putrid 72 WRC+ at home. Based on the comments I've recently read on here the only possible conclusion I can come to is that Vlad is fat at home, while he's fully committed to fitness on the road. He needs to figure out a way to get into better shape while playing at home and it will be his numbers exploding instead of his waistline.

That’s the flaw in wRC+. Not sure if it’s ever been fixed. Like if a player hits better away from Coors than he does at home, why would you adjust his numbers down, if anything they’d go up, or something idk?

The plan was awesome last game except for the use of Cimber.

-Richards as the opener for a maximum of one time through the lineup

-They don't have to go straight to Francis, if they have lefties in the lineup it's best to use Mayza early in the game because they won't pinch hit. But if they do then they'll just be screwing themselves later on when our right handed setup men come into the game.

-Then go to Francis

-Pearson could also do two innings in one of these games

But that's a ton of bullpen usage and they can't rely on Richards going 3 innings every time. They really need the starters to eat more innings if they keep planning on doing this or they are going to have to let Francis go 4-5 innings. Hopefully they start letting Francis do that as he gets stretched out more after coming back from injury. That was only his 4th or 5th appearance all year.
