BTS Community Moderator Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 He’d be fine defensively there but then all of 2024 is the broken record from 2023, where’s the power in the offense? A bounce back from Vlad and regressions to the respective means from Varsho and Kirk still doesn’t really strike fear in hearts of pitchers everywhere. The only real 30 HR threat on the Jays right now would be a Vlad. JDM is gonna hit 35 as the full-time DH
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 JDM is gonna hit 35 as the full-time DH That'd be sweet.

Grichuk?) and then look at the trade deadline to add a star player. Also gives Barger, Orelvis and Palmegiani, all of whom are in AAA and on the cusp of the bigs, a shot to see if they can play 3B after a half season more of development.

deanmike Verified Member Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 (edited) I know I've posted about this multiple times already, but out of all the 1B/DH power bat options on the FA market, IMO Rhys Hoskins easily has to be at the top of the list in terms of best fit for the Jays. The 4th OF options that stand out to me the most in terms of good fit with the team (assuming they're looking for a LF righty bat who hits well vs LHP) are Grichuk, Duvall and Hicks. C Jansen+Kirk 1B Hoskins 2B Biggio+Babe 3B IKF+Espinal SS Bo LF Varsho+Grichuk/Duvall/Hicks CF Kiermaier RF Springer DH Vlad Jays could probably sign all 3 of Hoskins+IKF+Grichuk/Duvall/Hicks for around 30M combined, which would be roughly almost all of their remaining budget post KK signing. jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Heard we may be getting Jose Ramirez still so season can still be salvaged Zero chance

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 If IKF is the starting third baseman it’s going to be a long season again
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Add add add, IKF is just a solid piece to the puzzle
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Sherminator isn't in the clear yet. The Jays have zero interest in Bellinger, Bob Nightingale is a f***ing idiot with no knowledge of anything, except masturbating excessively because one Boras' lapdogs fed him a "hot tip"
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 The Jays have zero interest in Bellinger, This would be contrary to Shatkins MO.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 If IKF is the starting third baseman it’s going to be a long season again Yeah, barf-worthy
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 My dream is to get both, Jose Ramirez and JDM. Get it done Shatkins!
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 This would be contrary to Shatkins MO. Atkins M.O. would be floor over ceiling. Belli's floor is among the worst of the multi year contract guys, as he has already shown he can be well below replacement. He was a "blue jays target" because he was a free agent OF, we had a spot, and we had supposed previous interest. That interest was in a short term prove your worth deal. I would be absolutely shocked if there were legitimate talks.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Chatted with my friend this morning. Apparently we do have another signing done at 2/15 with an opt out after year one. He thinks it’s Amed Rosario. Doesn’t know when it’s supposed to be announced but the physical is done. I think it’s IKF. He says he has not heard about a formal offer to Bellinger but we have put one across to Chapman. Team is working on a big trade but not for the usual suspect.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Rosario would mean Espinal gets fired into the sun
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 It's Luis Robert, I heard.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 It's Luis Robert, I heard. My sources are telling me it's Ohtani. He requested a trade because he felt so bad about the whole plane thing and wanted to make it up to Canada. Return is apparently Espinal, Manoah, all the Jays international money for the next 10 years and a lifelong subscription for Friedman to the Jelly of The Month Club.

MikeM3 Verified Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Doesn't basically all of IKF's value come from playing shortstop
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Doesn't basically all of IKF's value come from playing shortstop The last thing the Jays need is a zero power bat playing 3B.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 I could stomach Rosario at 2/15 since he has a 2+ WAR projection for 2024 and was slightly above league average offensively in 2021-22, so maybe there's some upside there, but IKF would be awful. Even if he's just an Espinal replacement, I'd probably just keep Espinal who would be cheaper.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Deal is official according to Robert Murray. 2/15 for IKF. Horrible.
