If the Jays managed to sign Ohtani, would you make a trade for Soto as well? I mean why the F not! Imagine a lineup with both those guys!

Now that's more like it, dare to dream. It's attainable if they actually landed Ohtani.

My head would explode if that happened!

Soler didn’t get qualified seems like a pretty obvious target to add power to the Lineup. Would be hesitant to go anymore than 3 years for him. The team that does probably gets him.

Yeah as a LF/DH he could be intriguing. He offers more power than Teo, LGJ, and Pederson.

All that just to get swept in the first round again

I didn't investigate but I hope this is a sign that Pearson is training with Tread Athletics and is determined to turn his career around....

I was going to suggest Teoscar instead of Hoskins but Steamer doesn't really like Teoscar that much. 105 projected wRC+ compared to Hoskins' 116 wRC+.

With Horwitz in the fold (projected 113 wRC+) I'd still probably be interested in Teoscar over Hoskins but I'd be game for either.

If the Jays sign Ohtani, I'm buying a bottle of Hibiki 21 Yo Whisky for $1500 to celebrate!

You have inspired me - if they sign Ohtani I'm breaking open my Bowmore 1989 23yr for a f***ing taste of victory

So you'd be upset if the Jays were to get Shohei Ohtani? Dude's a beast bat and top of the rotation arm in one man, lmao. Complain...complain... complain... there's no satisfying you.

That's not what I meant because I'd obviously go nuts if we ever got Ohtani. Just meant I would prefer to get a guy like Judge and an elite pitcher for the same price as Ohtani if we had the choice.

In the end, my post was unnecessary lol.

Hey man, if he can become anything at all for us and stick, it would be gravy.

MLB Trade Runors is projecting 12 years 264 mil for Bellinger

Ya I'll pass on that term without hesitation. No one should be getting 10+ years unless they're a generational talent.

Hoskins is a good hedge at 1b when we trade Vlad for Soto.

Getterrr done Atkins!

As usual, you’d be better not to get fixated on the years. It’s why baseball AAVs are not rising anywhere close to NFL/NBA over time. 8 years at $33m AAV is a better way to look at it

So by nerd math, if it’s $10m WAR you need to do 26 WAR in 8 years to break even

His likely destination the Yankees will do it, and Bellinger will love the right field porch, +8-12 HRs.

Steamer has him projected for a robust 2.4 fWAR.

We need some quality LHBs. Or to take a chance trading for some fringe, young ones like Larnach types.

Larnach had 40 RBI in 212 PA last season. The clutch hitter the Jays need.

Varsho not winning one is very much ********. We all s*** on that guy but he was far and away the best LF in Baseball and he's probably a top 5 CF as well.

Good call and Bassitt totally agrees wth you.

3B/1B Jeimer Candelario (70/4) - Nope

OF Jung Hoo Lee (50/5) - I don't know enough about him

DH/RF/LF Jorge Soler (45/3) - definitely paying a FA premium but I wouldn't hate this

CF Kevin Kiermaier (26/2) - Not exactly loving this with his age and injury history but he put up 2.2 fWAR and almost 4 bWAR last year

SP Nick Martinez (25/2) - not bad

SP Tyler Mahle (20/2) - not bad

IF Gio Urshela (20/2) - he's not better than the in-house platoon options

Are there any sort of projections for Jung Hoo Lee? I don't think enough KBO guys have made the leap to offer anything reliable but I have no idea what one can expect from him.

very excited for JP Morosi to use the Blue Jays as a fake rumor on literally every free agent just because Ross Atkins calls them all to say hi and kick the tires

This one is fake but when Morosi tweets about Ohtani that one will be real

The Brewers are suddenly looking for a manager for the first time in almost a decade, with Craig Counsell’s stunning move to the Cubs yesterday. Some of the options they are considering as a replacement, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, are current Brewers bench coach Pat Murphy, Blue Jays bench coach Don Mattingly, Astros Bench coach Joe Espada, Dodgers first base coach Clayton McCullough, Astros hitting coach Troy Snitker and former player Rickie Weeks.

please hire him

I've read a few things on Jung Hoo Lee, sorry can't dig up the links. In summary, I think the general consensus is that he may not be good enough in the field to stick in CF and doesn't have enough pop to be a prototypical corner outfielder.

Seems to be a elite contact, slap hitter type who is still young. Based on what I've read, it sounds to me that his upside is as a Frank Catalanotto type hitter. I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know. I'm not sure what to think about a gamble on a successful MLB transition - I think I'd lean towards a soon to be 32 yo Jorge Soler at 45/3. Soler offers more pop and IMO higher predictability of outcome despite his up and down career. Wishful thinking, but you could also add both and have Jorge in a primary DH spot unless Jung Hoo Lee shits the bed.
