Jansen being injured basically makes it so that they have to carry Cam Eden at all times for whenever Kirk gets on base late in games. Also what's the status on Jansen's injury? Is he due back at any point in the playoffs?

Feel like they would put Eden on the roster even if Jansen is healthy.

Kirk, Jansen, Belt, Guerrero are all pinch runner candidates.

I just wish we got to see more pinch running from Eden in the regular season. I don't remember them asking him to do it much. Would have been good to see a few SB attempts.

In the sports world, all kinds of narratives are built around someone’s performance. You’re assuming he’s all locked in, cold killer for this playoff game. If you’re upset about those narratives, go collect Pokémon cards

But it's you making up some BS narrative in this case. Why? It's stupid. Don't be stupid.

He’s a very logical guy. Most of you guys are too emotional but Connor is smart enough to see what’s actually going on

I figure the lineup today will be

Springer

Belt

Guerrero

Bichette

Biggio

Kirk

KK

Chapman

Varsho

Not much to change about this. I guess they could flip Belt and Bichette. Or Kirk and Chapman. Or KK and Varsho. But none of that really matters.

I kind of prefer Bichette 4th and someone like Belt 2nd because then you don't give the SP one of those 3 pitches, 2 outs kind of situations. At least Belt will take 8 pitches or so.

It's not a scary lineup.

Wait you are saying Connorp is logical? That's a very illogical statement.

I think the reasoning is that the other team can’t bring in a righty to face Springer-Bichette-Guerrero anymore without have to face a lefty on either end. Also pinch hitting opportunities spread throughout the lineup

Kikuchi ran out of gas towards the end of the season. His stuff+ cratered to 94 in the last month of the season compared to his season average of 105. Hopefully the stuff plays out of the pen if he's needed in the wild card series.

Koochie hasn't been getting enough sleep lately.

who is doing the GDT

this is a big deal

I was considering it:confused:

If someone else feels strongly be my guest

Edit. Done already I see.

No worries. I didn't want to risk the post season ban which comes with a losing GDT in the playoffs.

Siddall saying that the same thing I was saying about Gausman. I don't think he's tipping pitches, I think they just have a good approach. They take anything at the knees. Unless he spots fastballs and offspeed including the splitter they won't be enticed to swing.

Please make f***ing heads roll if they lose tomorrow. 8 years and zero playoff success has to f***ing end.

I can't imagine a scenario where Guillermo and Hudgens are brought back if the Jays get swept or lose in the WC round. Someone has to take the fall for the offense and it won't be the hitters (half of them will be replaced anyway due to impending free agency). Other than that, I wouldn't expect much change. 3 million fans and a playoff appearance. Rogers is probably happy.

I think the ump was pretty lax on calling low strikes consistently too, that didn’t help. That’s anecdotal though I’ll have to wait and see what the scorecard says

Well I mean firing the hitting coaches responsible for this approach at the plate should be a start. So many winnable games lost because of not utilizing the strengths of many of their hitters.

Do we have the longest active playoff losing streak now?

Edit - never mind I found it. We’re currently tied with the Reds and Rays for the most at 6 straight losses. Orioles are at 5.

As I said in the GDT, Lewis laid off 2 splitters from Swanson they were just barely low. He got behind but didn’t challenge him.

That’s the thing about sports. The only thing we have is the performance. From there, people will build their narratives. At first it was the Twins were cheating, then in turned into Gausman was tipping pitches. It’s not just message board people, but that’s what the talking heads on tv discuss too. Everyone has their narrative.

To me Gausman was just missing really bad and Twins did a good job working the counts. They still couldn’t do much of anything other than work a couple walks. One hit other than Lewis.
