24 thousand fans... be better, Toronto.

Why so few I wonder? Strange. This is a good team but its been a tough, pretty unexciting watch most of the season. I think I'm 2-6 in person there this year.

Which is why I won't make the trip there I was planning for tomorrow.

It's really just an anomaly. This team is averaging 37k, which is 8th in the league and 5000 higher than last year.

Yeah, it's just weird, big series. Most tickets are pre bought.

Number 1, why the f*** has Jays media been sitting on this story for so long if they're all basically admitting they know more than the info they've already shared online?

Number 2, I'm guessing this tweet is not in reference to the story that BNS published yesterday, because it would be weird if Treuden was fact-checking BNS, someone with way more credibility/rep than him.

My guess is that this tweet is in reference to all the fans (including myself) that have been reading between the lines and inferring what's really going on under the surface (Manoah thinks he's too good to be grinding his way back to the majors on that minors salary, and wants to be on IL while he's at AAA to continue collecting major league pay and service time). I've tried to think of another possible explanation as to why Manoah could be doing this, and can't think of another one that makes more sense than this.

Journalistic integrity + the importance of maintaining relationships in sports media

1. Just because something seems to be true does not mean you can just print the story. They would need multiple independent sources confirming Manoah's motives to really publish anything.

2. Getting to aggressive with negative stories about players is a dangerous line. It can kind of be career ruining. Also, there is that always present conflict of interest with the team being owned by the media company.

As recently as a few days ago I was defending Manoah. Saying we as fans shouldn't speculate and that him being a whiner is all speculation. Guess I was wrong. He better get his head together because word spreads fast in this league about trouble makers in the clubhouse. Pitchers better than him have had to go down to the minors and reset. That being said, despite his great 2022 I was a bit turned off by the saccharine videos Sportsnet was subjecting us to about his family etc.

I dunno. Monday night game. Tons of families have A LOT going on this week with back to school.

Nobody wants to see Chris Bassitt pitch, let's be f***ing honest. He's like one notch more entertaining than RA Dickey, most nights.

Overall the attendance is fine, going to get close to 3 million if not just over.

Among many fans however there isn't a huge amount of excitement about a battle for the last playoff spot as compared to the battles for a division title.

In 2015 and 2016, when the Jays were contending for the division there was huge excitement in September and sold out crowds even on weekdays.

So in a way nice job on Shaprio to keep summer attendance up. However September attendance being mediocre (as compared to 2015 and 16) is also on him.

#of Days the 2020-2023 Blue Jays have been in contention for a division title = 0

#of Days the 2020-2023 Blue Jays have been in first after April 10th = 0?

I don't know if the second statement is true. However despite 3 straight years of solid teams they've been eliminated from the division in like May every year because of hot starts by the other teams.

Be interesting to see Baltimores attendance next year, after a full year of contending for a Divsion and making the playoffs with ease. This year Baltimore attendance is horrible given their performance. Toronto would sell out every game if contending for a division.

Yeah, I'm just wondering moving forward, my bro couldn't get any reasonable seats past this weekend.

You sometimes wonder how much the lack of big moments and the mediocre performance in big moments will affect attendance of this winning cycle compared to 2015 to 2016.

In 2015 in the September series against the Yankees it was unbelievable. "Russell! Russel! Russel!". Even the game they lost I believe Dioner hit a dramatic game tying homerun. Stroman out there like a boss. Then the 2015 playoff series. The 2016 wild card games. 2016 Game 3 Division Series, with all the drama around Odor vs Bautista, and Odor makes a bad throw and Donaldson the alpha scores from second.

In 2021 big series against the Yankees in September and they lose 2/3 and miss the playoffs. Cy Young candidate Ray gives up bombs when we need him. 2022 Wild card, enough said.

Then this years Canada Day series. Getting swept by the Red Sox on biggest weekend of the summer? I was at the 3rd game and it was a low energy mausoleum even though it was a close game.

There is just sometimes 0 faith that this team can win a big game or a big series. I turned it off when Kiemaier got caught at home. Seemed it was the game and the series right there. I can't believe I am saying this but I don't even know how much of the next 3 games I'm going to watch. 0 faith in this team compared to 2015/16. Anything can happen but always seems this team disappoints in the big moments and the fans are sort of conceding that now.

You are a pretty well adjusted fan but many others, myself included, aren't.

A lot of casuals don't care about the battle for the wild card spot. A lot of die hards are getting burnt out on this team because of all the disappointment amid super high expectations. I am sure some of us posters seem crazy, but in the last couple of years I know I've heard even a lot of the good posters, saying they needed to take a few games off because this team is driving them nuts.

The curse of the opening day starter continues for Blue Jays. More times than not it seems whoever the Jays pick as their opening day starter for that season craps the bed other than Ray.

How the hell is Alek Manoah supposed to ever walk into that clubhouse again after pulling this stunt. What a f***ing loser honestly.

I owe Marcus an apology and shouldn’t have compared them. At least you knew Stroman was giving you everything he had every night. The only thought on Manoah’s mind is what’s for supper after the game

I know. I will. Its all been business stuff in box and a couple games with bro/Hudson and local bud who has 4 season seats in TD clubhouse we mooch off hosted by him.

I can't just invite other people to them as much as Id like to lol.

It's a huge blessing that Texas and Seattle play each other 7 times over their last 18 games. Jays basically need to 10 of thier last 18 to make the playoffs. Need to hopefully split the series against Texas and we are gonna b e in good shape. Take 2 of 3 from Boston and play .500 ball against Yankees and Rays should get us in.

Sepetember during the week is always one of the worst attended/lowest demand games. Once school is back, people don't want to make the trek to the dome on school nights. Tonight will get more of a bump because of loonie dog night but wednesday won't be any better. If they were playing a team other than Texas it would be even worse, not sure they would even get 20K.

You know I'd find a seat beside you, bro. Next time, as for the Biz, I get it.

I just find this team meh. I attended lots of gms in dark times from Calgary 1994-2014 and 2017-19 in various cities. I enjoyed them as much if not more than this year.

Its obviously related to expectations...but also team make up, style of play and performance.

They are 8th in attendance right now in MLB. Maybe tonight its packed again.

I listened to B & B and Wagner. Doesn't sound good. I'm not that surprised. Some dust has to settle on this and Manoah has some explaining to do.

At the end of the day, if he doesn't f***ing pitch better again its all just useless drama and irrelevant.

He will be talked about like Jays fans do about Ricky Romero, only with disdain.

At least with Romero he had legit health issues. Manoah just got fat(er)... didn't train and acted like a baby when he sucked.

Manoah sounds like an immature arrogant moron. No thanks.

Immature, entitled, selfish, high maintenance, lazy (weight)... all apparent character flaws as an outside observer. We can only hope, some one, some how, gets to him in the off-season and he works to improve and correct in those areas. But I don't think he will. Unfortunately. He seems the type of person that doubles down when criticized, rather than self reflect.

Wait.. we hate Ricky Romero? I was only disappointed that he crashed and burned very quickly after being successful. I never thought he was an *******.

I actually loathe Manoah for being a giant douche incapable of recognizing how much he stinks now. He actually thinks figuring it out at the major league level while costing the team more wins than he already has is acceptable. The fact he is willing to destroy the experience of not only his teammates, but the millions of fans hungry for the team to make the playoffs for his own selfish gains is the peak of douchebaggery. f*** him. I hope he never pitches again at the major league level.
