Genesis Cabrera (LH reliever) waived by the Cardinals. Worth taking a gamble or no? Roster Resource says he has 1 option year left which might be this season of course and still has multiple years of control left.

Here’s hoping they can get those walks under control.

Last nights tough loss exposed our holes glaringly:

- 16th in runs scored/game. Of the teams we are chasing or near only NYY worse and they have been injury decimated.

- Lack of faith in Kooch 3rd time through, even though he has as good a stuff and command as I've seen last night.

- Espy and Kirk our RH pinch hitting solutions. Espy PH's for Varsho and K's and Kirk GIDP. Not totally unexpected outcomes. Ironic Teo walks us off.

- We used every leverage pen arm except Mayza in asking them to get 14 outs after pulling Kooch after 5 1/3. Today Gausman is back but we aren't sure what we are going to get yet coming off injury, and tomorrow its Manoah and the odds are the pen will be asked to eat a lot of IP.

I hope we can pull out the next 2. Thank god I didn't fly to SEA for the pleasure of paying 40% exchange to watch.

Gausman will not be allowed to go more than 5 innings today, im almost certain. Likely gonna see all of Pearson/Mayza/Swanson/Romano if we are winning

Last night shows we need another bat for the bench. Kirk has a 90 wRC since June of 2022 and Espinal 93 since the start of 2022 and I don’t think his defence is as good as it was last season. I

It seems like it's headed this way anyway, but Jansen needs to be the starting catcher with Kirk playing a lot less. As mentioned he's been well below average offensively since July of last season, and he's somehow morphed into a singles hitter which is not good for the fattest/slowest player in the league. As a backup CA making the minimum, he's fine, so it's not hurting to have him on the roster, but if July 2022-onwards is his new norm, then he's not a starting caliber player in MLB even with his good defense. Have him backup Jansen for now and if the bat starts to come around again, then adjust playing time accordingly.

Didn't see this coming...

It's a bit of a surprise to see Nate sent down to AAA but he really needs to start commanding his secondary pitches if he's to have any success in MLB. I didn't realize how ugly his overall numbers are becoming since the early success after his callup.

Oof that sucks for Nate. Guess he has options. From what ive seen Genesis doesnt have any better command than Nate. Kind of replacing a wild fireballer with another wild fireballer arent we?

Yes, but appparently Cabrera throws like 4-5 pitches and his command is mainly a problem with the tertiary pitches. So if the FO tells him to cut his repertoire to just 2 pitches he could see immediate benefits

I'm more talking about Cabrera, I guess they can use the option game between the two for fresh arms, no doubt Nate's been labouring.

I'm less than thrilled that the club decided to immediately roster Cabrera instead of making even a cursory attempt to straighten him out in AAA first. I don't see how they are in the position to roll the dice on reclamation projects at the major league level given how tight the standings are.

I want see Jay Jackson in higher leverage situations - he's passed the test and deserves to be challenged a little more

Yeah, I was legit surprised.

They should probably DFA Yimi soon to avoid his option for next Season. Not sure why they would want him on the books for 6 million next season. I feel they could bring in 2 similar relievers for that price.

Article on BlueJaysNation by Cam Lewis on Chad Green

The 32-year-old righty was the opener for the Low-A Dunedin Blue Jays on Saturday and he tossed a scoreless inning. Green threw 10 pitches, eight of which were strikes, and his fastball averaged 94.5 miles per hour, which is right around where it was pre-surgery during the 2022 season.

That's good too see, Keep crossing our fingers.

Wouldn't that be a bad look on the Jays if they would do that? Specially after using him regularly.

Yes, it won't happen unless he's moved in the coming days in a trade package.

Garcia isn't nearly so bad that he's a DFA candidate. He has posted mid 3's FIP and xERA numbers and has had terrible BABIP luck this season.

Its the 6 million option they should be trying to avoid.

Green is coming back. And quite frankly I feel Danner should be on this roster by now.

What makes you think Danner is ready for a callup? He's currently sporting a 6.14 FIP in AAA while allowing 2.66 HR/9. I'll take Yimi and his impending $6 million vesting option any day of the week over that kind of output thank you very much.

He plays in a bandbox. The Bisons ballpark is an absolute joke. A lot of the Bisons pitchers numbers are inflated as a result.

As a team that’s going to be right up against the tax. Giving Yimi Garcia 6 million for mediocre middle relief would be piss poor asset management. You could scoop up guys off the scrap heap or give 2 guys that money to do the same job. He’s got to go. I would like to start seeing some of these younger arms not making anything. Danner was an example and already on the 40-man.

Jonn should take a timeout, verbal diarrhea everywhere.

Verbal diarrhea because I don't want the Jays to spend $6M on Yimi Garcia next season and I want Daulton Varsho to have a platoon partner ok Spanky. Not much left between the ears I see.
