General Blue Jays Discussion Thread (2023)

Blue Jays have not sucked for the better part of a decade or regularly traded stars for prospects, like "some other teams".

 

I wish they would take a hybrid Rays approach..... and regularly trade cost controlled players for a prospect haul, even during winning seasons, while operating with 2x the Rays player budget.

 

I can only imagine the absolute HAUL they’ll get when they trade Wander in a couple years

Rays actually have a few guys that they could dump in the next few offseasons to maximize returns and limit the impact to their overall squad.

 

Glasnow this offseason for sure, I cant imagine they really want to pay him 25 million next season. Maybe not this offseason but after 2024 they'll probably be looking hard at trading Diaz before he pumpkins out, probably Eflin as well.

Yeah the “sportsnet overhypes the team” angle is the dumbest s*** i’ve heard.

 

This team was projected to be a lot better than they’re currently showing. If you watch another station like MLB network most of the shows have also been hyping the Jays, especially last year

I seem to recall that the majority of Fangraphs writers picked us as AL East favourites in their pre-season predictions series several years in a row as well.

SN is extremely biased when it comes to the Blue Jays. But yes other media outlets raved about them before 2022 and 2023 as well. The media aren't always correct though. The team hasn't lived up to expectations so far as a World Series contender. Facts!

Of course they're better than this, but we're already in the middle of June. This team has underachieved thus far. I hope they go on a major run but geez don't think its going to be a walk in the park. The schedule isn't that easy as some people think. Some of those teams can give the Jays problems, especially with the way they've been playing. What happens if they don't go on a run? What excuse is next?

Agreed. The way this team has played, I'm not getting my hopes up as well. Take one game at a time and hope they can win each series. Rangers will be tough, Marlins as well. Giants won't be a walkover at home. Hope they can go on a nice run before the All-Star Break.

They should've swept the Twinkies, Kooch and pen was so misused, that was frustrating as f***. SOS is a real factor.

It's just some posters like Brownie and Stangstag are such huge homers who get all pissy when you criticize or question anything this front office has done. They come up with excuses all the time.

 

Thanks for answering that question and being honest though with that response. At the end of the day a winning Blue Jays team means a happier BJMB. Lets hope they can go on a run.
