Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Lets f***ing Go! He will impact this bullpen this season for sure. He’s excellent Triple-A depth. lol hOnEsTlY i WoUlD hAvE kEpT jAcKsOn OvEr PoP oR RiChArDs I said Pop not Richards. I’m still a big believer in Richards because of his ability to get swing and miss. I will make this clear again. Zach Pop is nothing. He would be waiver fooder if he wasn’t 26. He will be in a few years when he gets passed around the league for the next handful of years. My prediction he plays for 8 different teams in his career.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Simply put, the Blue Jays are not taking the best team north. If Lukes over Lopez a big deal? No. Does it really matter that Pearson is starting in AAA? Probably not. But if the team does not get off to a fast start there will be some I-told-you-sos I think the baffling part is that Lukes, Lopez, Pop, and Pearson all have options. It’s not like they would lost anyone if Lopez and Pearson made the team so you can’t even point to options to rationalize the decisions. Having Pearson throw any pitches in AAA at this point is crazy. At least wanting Lopez to play everyday is understandable.

Pearson probably has about 30 innings in him this year. You're gonna waste half of those in the minors??
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Lukes is such a f***ing waste of a roster spot 26th man is rarely important or used. Hes a warm body. Let players with actual potential get at-bats and playing time. Pearson should 100% be here. Unless they plan to convert him back into a Starter but pretty sure that ship has sailed.

wilko Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Pretty sure people said this about Tapia and Zimmer last year Agree on Nate Hopefully there's enough depth for the OF that we don't see him much.
keggy Verified Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 They want Otto Lopez to actually play and get at-bats. Having him on the roster to barely play makes no sense. One of Merrifield, Espinal or Biggio needs to be moved out. I’m assuming one of Merrifield, Espinal, and Biggio will be moved by the deadline. Having all 3 makes very little sense. Considering Espinal can play SS and 3B he would be least likely to move. Would rather Otto Lopez get everyday at-bats. It appears the Blue Jays feel the same. Right now I think they need to sit back and see who takes a step forward during the season. If you get rid of Espinal you lose your backup SS and best lefty masher. If you get rid of Merrifield you're exposing Kiermaier and Varsho to a lot of left handed pitching. Biggio is your best option against righties.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Did Zimmer actually play that much? He got the odd start but most of his appearances in Defense or Base Running situations. Did having him swing a bat all suck? Yes. But it hardly impacted wins and losses. I just looked it up Zimmer got 89 At-Bats in over 100 games played lol. When regulars are out Merrifield, Biggio, and Espinal will be getting those at-bats. Not s*** bags like Zimmer and Bradley Jr. I’m confident if real playing time opened up due to injury Otto Lopez is the first guy coming up. And he will be coming up with everyday at-bats under his belt.
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Pretty sure people said this about Tapia and Zimmer last year Agree on Nate Tapia was the 4th OF (Merrifield or Biggio will cover this now) so he had a lot of PAs. Zimmer had 117 PAs in the whole year. 33 PAs in the second half. Lukes is taking Zimmer's place.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Lots of interesting reclamation projects available out there this year with Hiura and Pache. Kind of players I would have wanted the Jays to jump on and try and catch something in the past, but tough to do when you are a prime-time contender.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 wait did the As cut Pache??? He’s out of options and didn’t make the Opening Day roster.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Tell em' Jonn, I agree on all this. My man.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 wait did the As cut Pache??? He's a bum.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 He's a bum. He’s basically Dominican Bradley Zimmer. But because hes 24 people remain intrigued. He will continue to float around the league being s*** until hes 30 and disappear.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 wait did the As cut Pache??? No man, haha...
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 He’s hitting .300+ in ST, sliver of hope. I was considering dropping him few days ago until I saw lol
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 He’s out of options and didn’t make the Opening Day roster. Oh s***, yeah.

Effectively moving on from Pache after one year in the organization is a clearly sub-optimal outcome for the A’s, which acquired the slick-fielding center fielder as one of the main pieces in the trade that sent Matt Olson to Atlanta. The 24-year-old appeared in 91 games for the A’s last year but posted an anemic .166/.218/.241 batting line through 260 plate appearances, exhausting his final minor league option year in the process. Things didn’t go much better in Triple-A, evidenced by a tepid .248/.298/.389 slash (68 wRC+) in an extremely hitter-friendly Las Vegas environment.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 lol... he's s***... Not looking good lol. Good think Misner sucks too
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Not looking good lol. Good think Misner sucks too That still needs to be seen.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Jays still have 2 spots on the 40 when Ryu and Green get put on the 60 Day IL, is that split contract Jackson signed taking up a spot, I'd believe so?

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 I don't think he necessarily will. I think it depends on the negotiation. BNS just said he starts in Buffalo, if called up it's pro-rated 1.5M. So I doubt he has to be on the 40.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Apparently Jay Jackson had opportunities to sign with lesser clubs and pitch in the Big Leagues but opted to stay with the Blue Jays. Considering how many relievers each team goes through every year he’s going to be here at some point.
