Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Ok… again the Ump wasn’t even ready nor the catcher. Can’t have this s*** in the regular season
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 the clock operators are having some issues this game
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I wonder if he's got a tell? They're sitting on him real well.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Ok… again the Ump wasn’t even ready nor the catcher. Can’t have this s*** in the regular season honestly, it seems like the ump is at fault here lots of weird stuff happening and it seems like it all stems from the ump not being ready
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 the clock operators are having some issues this game Dumb Ump too
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Dumb Ump too and they don't get any smarter after ST.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Are we gonna have a rule for Umps to be ready though?? Because he was barely ready when he called the auto strike. I think they still have some amendments to make to the clock rule. Clock should freeze if Ump isn’t behind the catcher. Also pirates broadcasters brought up a good point, how whill they handle celebrations/milestones/standing Os?? Umpires discretion, same as injuries.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 in the article on Sportsnet today it mentions that Kikuchi wants to fall off the mound differently this year he might be trying something different from the traditional "straight line to home" thing Makes sense. When he followed through in a more traditional way, he was lower in the strike zone and about 92. When his arms were all over the place, he was 96 and it was high (but a swinging strike).
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Tiedemann looked fine. The two singles were lucky. He was mostly 97. A bit wild.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Anyone remember how supposed player's manager Charlie Montoyo treated Kikuchi last year? Saying crap like, "Tough to play behind a guy who isn’t throwing strikes." https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/blue-jays-manager-charlie-montoyo-yusei-kikuchi-struggles/tdrpo4crll4seewczv1gxc6k I'm all for some tough love but you've got to apply it to the right players. A soft-spoken guy who is obviously taking his struggles hard isn't the guy you publicly dump on through the media. Now you can't blame Montoyo for Kooch's struggles. But I do think a better work environment can help the mental midgets of the team to a degree.

JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 They need that clock to be 20 secs at all times, not just when there's someone on base. That extra 5 secs helps.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Ok… again the Ump wasn’t even ready nor the catcher. Can’t have this s*** in the regular season A few minor blips in the radar is certainly no reason to panic or change course. Adjustments were made in the minors last year, which provides MLB with a f***ton of information that will help accelerate the adjustments this year. I'm still not sure how anyone watches a couple of innings (without any clock violations) and thinks to themselves - this f***ing sucks, I want to see the pitcher step off, or the batter to step out more often - slow the game down! You can bitch about the growing pains, but we literally just went through this last year in another league without major issues. By this time next year - I suspect we rarely, if ever, even talk about the clock.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 LOL I dunno, man Kikuchi had been given all the soft treatment to that point Just go with it lol
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Kikuchi then turned to alcohol to numb the pain from his manager berating him in public. We all remember the story about his teammates getting him loaded on the team flights.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Author Posted March 7, 2023 Should've traded Tiedemann while his value was high.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Mr. Tiedemann had a tidy inning there, including a silly strikeout from Rodolfo Castro (who is a decent hitter).
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Tiedemann isn't ready for full time play yet, but he will be soon...real soon.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Oh he's definitely ready At worst he's some decent version of Robbie Ray
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 lol Laugh all you'd like, they were definitely sitting FB or reading him well. Could be all guess work but they were on the FB.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 10 minor league starts and he will be. Won't be surprised if he finishes the year in Toronto.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Seems like we've got a decent 1-5. I assume Tiddyman will be on an innings limit and we can also manipulate his service time (that's still doable right?) so might as well start him off the minors for now.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 But it seems like he's moved to #6 to me. Thompson's stuff is ass and White's stuff is probably also ass and he's behind schedule too. Ricky is next man up.

Im just saying I don't want to see games decided with s***** implementation of the clock rules like we saw a couple times today. I'm bitching about the growing pains as you say.

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Probably depends on the injury If they need a guy for a start or two they won't use Tiedemann or Zulueta But if it's to a replace a guy for a while, maybe they do just go straight to Teeds
