Which one of you two idiots couldn't keep it in your pants and introduced politics where it doesn't belong?

What are the best Blue Jays podcasts?

Artificial Turf Wars and At the Letters aren't bad and what I currently listen to. Are there any others?

There was one some nerds from this board made. I think it got shut down.

Theyre somehwat kidding, with multiple people married and having kids, the available time to get together just faded.

I couldn't ever listen to it with my kids around due to Boxy firing Fbombs like a gatling gun..

I believe the days of just putting a guy out there regardless of his D ( or s*** D) are over. Everything the Jays have done this year has been toward the objective of run prevention. Why would they do all that and trade a bat like Teo, only to get some other s*** defensive fielder.

Point being, I think they do care. Unless your name is Bo, you better bring the D on this new Team.

I really think we are talking about a 5th OF. Between 250 and 400 innings at worst...with 98% of the defensive innings being in LF.

I wonder if they might even look internally at someone like Otto Lopez who hit LHP really well in the minors. This front office likes to use options when available so maybe they'll start him in AAA because of that, but if they are right up against the CBT threshold, then going over it for a 4th OF seems kind of pointless. Might as well wait until the trade deadline to go over it by adding someone with more impact, depending on who is available. The Jays are going to have to start trusting their own player development anyway. The CBT stuff isn't going to go away as Vlad/Bo get more expensive, and the team having to replace Chapman (or re-sign him) next year. Guys like Lopez, Barger, Horowitz, etc, should be getting some opportunity if injuries arise.

Funny how I started down other team's minor league OF'ers splits but didn't even look at ours.

Lopez is a very SSS had 109 PA's for a .361/.430/.474 against LHP. He has speed, making a very good bench role player and knows the system. The defensive reports are all in CF and the IF but all signs are "athletic".

When we are talking about this next OF we are not really talking about a replacement for KK against LHP, we are talking about a replacement for Espinal. Cause when it's a LHP as it stands now Merrifield, or Biggio are getting the majority of the looks there. Espinal gets in at 2B. So are those veteran replacements that much better than Espinal or Biggio vs LHP. Much less are they even better than Lopez. Are they going to want to play in Toronto for potentially 100 PA's?

I think the job is Lopez's to lose in Spring Training.

I know this sounds funny, but for last year's team, I hated how we had Zimmer. Now he might be what we need as a 5th outfielder-pinch runner-defensive sub. I know it sounds funny to say it but last year I would have thought the idea was insane.

Kiermaier was on Wilner’s Deep Left Field Podcast that was released on Dec 22. I only listened to the part with KK but enjoyed it.

bringing in someone new takes up a roster spot. Going internal brings us even more options. I know that Ryu is going on the 60 day IL but we also have no catcher in the minors on the 40. I think that will be addressed at some point as well. I think they bring Tyler Heineman (who has options) back for that role

Heineman signed with the Bucs, and why can't the Jays just add what they have in the minors to the 40 if need be? They're at 39 right now, and Ryu to the IL will be 38.

chances are whoever will be the 5th outfielder is not yet on the 40 so whoever it is will have to be added in.

Internally it would be Lukes or Lopez whom are already on the 40.

Lukes is a small possibility but that's about it.

Bucs have 5 catchers on the 40. I don't like the Minor League invite options (Chirinos, Leon, maybe if Alfaro would sign a minor league deal). I'd rather give up a spot to a guy that has been in the org (even if for only a couple weeks) who has an option than use Bec in an emgergency. There might be other similar guys out there, but as big a pain the Pirates are rumoured to be to deal with it was the first team I looked up.

Lukes has to absolutely kill it in Spring IMO. As a lefty his usefulness is less. He's pretty much a DH here. If they actually like him at all, they will want him playing everyday.

Was looking at catcher depth. Maybe we fast track someone like Zach Britton, even though it seems like they're trying him more in the OF.

Also, who is Karl Ellison, what's his story, why does he exist.

But you think Zimmer is a better option, dude?

God no, I think Zimmer's bat is no more than that of a pitcher. But my hope is that the 5th outfielder is nothing but a defensive substitute/pinch runner and gets virtually NO at bats. Lopez and Lukes should be at AAA getting some at bats in case of injuries. If anything I'd have the outfield depth being:

Springer

KK

Varsho

Whitfield

4th outfielder

and the last spot: pinch runner, defensive replacement.

Zimmer would be good enough for that. Lukes and Lopez might be wasted.
