Agreed about sounding likr Sid on my points but like I said, it's a message board with anonymity so Id prefer to save myself extra work than worry about articulating.myself better.

In addition to having more tim to completely heal from his injury, I expected a contract year to be a big reason why Chapman could turn back to Oakland MVP guy, which he actually showed to start the season.

Varsho for sure has value as a player but I hated the trade at the time and still do. I get why it was made but feel we should have gotten Carroll from Arizona based on what we gave even if we had to add slightly more to it.

I would have loved for the Jays to been able to trade for Carroll as well but unfortunately Moreno wasn't in the same stratosphere value wise. This should have been apparent when comparing the numbers of their respective minor league careers as well as comparing what they did offensively during their initial cup of coffee in the majors. I read during last offseason that Carroll was deemed to be fully untouchable by the Diamondbacks and that was for good reason as he posted a 6 war season as a rookie compared to Moreno who wasn't able to crack the 2 win mark for his rookie season. The Moreno thumb injury was really unfortunate as it seemingly sapped Moreno off all of his power potential for several seasons afterwards, who knows what could have happened had the injury not occurred.

All the players should unite in solidarity. Either all show up with beards and say, 'what are you gonna do about it', or all shave every part of their body... Head, eyebrows, eyelashes, arms legs, junk, bleach their *******s... And look like a bunch of cancer patients playing for the Yankees.

Brett Gardner probably would have looked pretty badass with a full on viking beard and would have fit in perfectly on a Vikings tv set.

But seriously

The Yankees just look like 90 year old Mr Burns yelling at Don Mattingly to shave his sideburns at this point

Time to stop

Tyler ONeil to the Red Sox

Nice pickup probably. They don't have much in the way of good prospects to deal after Mayer.

I feel like O’Neil could tear that ballpark up. Might be a sneaky good move for them.

What former star and what's so disappointing about it?

Fltecher/Stassi and Ohtani were teammates on the Angels

And Kikuchi and Ohtani went to the same school...probably meaningless

Ok, and maybe I'm not following but who was the former star and why is it disappointing?

Scott Boras is a ridiculous person.

He's a great fit in Philly but yeah there is no need for the Phillies to extend him even longer. He's under contract until 2031 and he'll be 38. Sure at that point the Phillies could go year-to-year with him or tack on some club options with any contract extension he gets.

Yeah asking to extend the guy further is peak insanity. The later years of that deal are already likely going to be largely underwater and the club would almost certainly receive no value in guaranteeing further money for a player into his 40's.

The f***ing balls on these agents and players. lol

The guy still has 8 years left on his current deal FFS

I don't put much stock in stuff like this. I highly doubt the scenario is Harper coming up with an idea to get a longer contract than he has. Chances are, someone asked him a question about where he wants to retire...he said Philly, and then said he'd love to be able to play into his 40s.

So Boras then says something like..."Harper wants to play into his 40s and stay in Philly, that would require a longer contract than he currently has." Factual statement

Reporter translation to generate clickbait headline "Harper demands extension to remain in Philly until retirement"

Nah, Boras was lobbying for it like a guy on the street corner with a cup in hand....

”Bryce has let me know that he wants to work out an extension so that he knows that he’s going to be there for the remainder of his career,” Boras said from a lobby at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. “I’ve certainly told [president of baseball operations] Dave [Dombrowski] that I think Bryce is a franchise player.”

I like that Harper is optimistic he can play into his 40s. Boras shouldn't have made that request public though

It's likely that Boras and/or Harper realize they should have included an opt out in there, so extending the current deal is their only option. I don't blame them, if any GM would do it, it's probably Dombrowski, so shoot your shot.
