Starting Justin Turner at 2nd base is certainly too complex for me to wrap my head around.

Haven’t seen him play since LAD few years ago. Didn’t know how he moved around

One thing that wouldn’t be playoff move would be resigning KK, like all 3 people on Mlbtr predicted. We saw what a help that was in 2023. Varsho KK combo

I don't think the team has that on their priority list

I mean if his market doesn't happen and Toronto signs no other OF and it's Feb 28th then maybe

Seems there's a lot you don't know about baseball

2/26 like they are predicting for KK would be gross IMO

Yeah - I don't know where those MLBTR predictions come from. I'd be shocked if they resigned KK. Not that I agree that someone like KK can't help a team win in the playoffs.

I care about fantasy values. Turner types aren’t on my radar on these epic rebuilds

Yeah if Stroman only gets a 2 year deal (doubtful) then I’d be all over that but I would think he could get more years even in his early 30’s.

Atkins doubled and tripled down on run prevention last season so I can’t see him going after Teoscar or Soler types unless they are full time DH’s. Hoskins, Brantley, Turner, and JDM make more sense in that regard.

Man, I think the offense was so lame in 2023 that they will definitely sacrifice a bit of defense for thump.

I don't think that means Justin Turner at 2B or Joc Pederson in LF but Teoscar isn't out of the question.

You are right that Soler might be enough of a butcher to just be a DH option.

I am really surprised at MLBTR's prediction for Teoscar. 1.8 fWAR with a 31% K rate = 4/$80? I think closer to the Mitch Haniger contract of 3 yr, $43.5M

I mean if someone is stupid enough to give Teo $80M then good for him. Love that guy. But that's a hard no from a Jays fan.

Wheeler/Strider not nominated for NL CY Young is a big miss IMO - although we've discussed how complicated that award/race was this year already.

ERA still seems to play a major role?

I hate the term Nominated here. Voting is finished, they didn't come in the top 3

We hosed the Mariners in that Teo trade. Swanson put up 0.9 WAR on a $1.25M salary. Teo put up 1.8 WAR on a $14M salary.

Teo is now a FA and they didn't even qualify him. Meanwhile we get two more years of Swanson. Easy W on that trade.

What are you going to do, platoon him?

Getting him out of Safeco Field may be all it takes to get him back to being a middle of the order threat. Rogers Center was super pitcher friendly last season so I don't know if Toronto is the answer.

Cant forget Macko who looks like a solid prospect.

Could have used Teoscar's 5 RBI in game two this time around though.

Ha yeah him too.

The Mariners are idiots. They fell for the ole offseason switcharoo where you trade a player and then replace him with a FA signing. It happens all the time in fan mock offseasons but it rarely happens in real life because most GMs aren't stupid enough to go for it. Why give up assets for a player when you can just dip into FA and get similar production? Dumn

Clearly this means he sucked at Seattle and any new ballpark will see him raise is stats at home.

Could have easily predicted that. Dumbass Seattle. Don't they know the formula for hitting success is Seattle ---> Toronto NEVER the other way around.

Truly executed to perfection by Atkins

I think Teo is going to get more than people think. He had a 126 wRC+ on the road this year.

It's possible

I mean Seattle's motivation in trading for him is evidence towards this. Teams do overpay for this kind of player. They do it in trade, like Seattle did, and they do it in free agency, just see the contracts for guys like Schwarber and Castellanos and Bryant and Avisail Garcia and George Springer and others - all horrendously overpaid corner outfielders who ostensibly have pop.

It's not hard to figure out that trade. SEA couldn't find hitting without a trade and they grow Swansons on trees so just trade one for a hitter.

They just traded Sewald for a pretty shaky return but they'll just find another Sewald or Swanson or Brash or Munoz or Topa etc

Trent Thornton is the one!
