Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 I just don’t get what the upside is EVER swinging 3-0 with a guy who is missing, an umpire who is calling a true tight plate and one on nobody out. Like, what is the f***ing upside? It’s such a f***ing dumb decision to ever swing in that spot. That’s terrible management. Yea, if there is a guy on third and we need a run to take a lead late. Yea, swing and try to lift one. Otherwise, don’t f***ing swing. Yeah, and at least with the Jays (definitely under Chuckles) it was "sure guys, swing whenever you want!" I really hate it.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Yeah, and at least with the Jays (definitely under Chuckles) it was "sure guys, swing whenever you want!" I really hate it. you can say that again!
Dagagad Verified Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Yeah, and at least with the Jays (definitely under Chuckles) it was "sure guys, swing whenever you want!" I really hate it. I feel like that’s something you would very rarely see any Ray do.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 What a way to lose the perfect game.

Yea, swing and try to lift one. Otherwise, don’t f***ing swing. Part of the reason is that these guys have been playing competitive ball their whole lives. They "believe" they can get a hit. When you're standing in that box it's you against the pitcher and sometimes you have to get your cuts. It doesn't make sense in strictly logical terms but it is part of the player mentality.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Tabby says Manoah is a "big guy" and has that going for him. Big guy correlation to not getting health issues? Like Pearson?
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Head's up play Biggio. It was a good snag but he did have the easier and better out at 2B... just saying lol

Agreed, at 3-0 you better get your key holed pitch, or take.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 These mofos are gonna get swept in Minny You're an idiot, but you already know that

Then the manager needs to stop giving them the green light 3-0 by default.

Think he means that if that was Storman on the mound getting hit by the ball, he'd be out for the season. Height Measures Heart #HMH
Dagagad Verified Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Manoah struggles to locate and immediately the Minnesota hitters start just taking everything. The fact that we couldn’t do that is so f***ing dumb. Terrible management.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Just can’t locate the fastball right now
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 That hit the bat, but that pinky finger may have shattered first.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Then the manager needs to stop giving them the green light 3-0 by default. Not if it's a slugger like Teo. It is part of sports psychology.
Dagagad Verified Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Not if it's a slugger like Teo. It is part of sports psychology. How come teams like the rays can get guys to almost always play to the odds and we have to let guys do sub optimal things to inspire them? What’s up with that?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Not if it's a slugger like Teo. It is part of sports psychology. Teo would just ignore the manager? Pretty sure that's a quick way to get yourself moved down in the lineup...

What’s up with that? Its the approach/philosophy of the team and management. Be aggressive af. Which, again, is different from what the Rays do. You should just become a Rays fan to avoid the misery of why Jays are not like Rays.

What an outrageous request! Be happy with stupid s*** or become a rays fan is quite the choice.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Teo would just ignore the manager? Pretty sure that's a quick way to get yourself moved down in the lineup... No I mean the manager wouldn't tell a slugger like Teo or Vladdy to take.
