Peyton Williams is Round 7 pick:

LHB

Though his well above-average raw power is his carrying tool, Williams also makes consistent contact, controls the strike zone and uses the entire field. A 6-foot-5, 250-pound left-handed hitter whose strength stands out more than his bat speed, he hit .335/.464/.622 with 13 homers in 54 games this spring. He has limited athleticism and must maintain his conditioning to remain at first base.

Yup Texas took Brock Porter, probably the only team with the slot money for him considering they have no picks in 2/3

Yeah, they probably had deals in place with both ROcker and Porter pre-draft which explains why Porter slid so far and Rocker went so high.

The two pick slots total about 8.1 million, punt a few lower picks and they can probably split over 9 million between the 2.

Heh doubtful. The lowest they went last year in the punted picks was 75K underslot.

Jays round 9: Devereaux Harrison

Harrison pitched very well out of the Dirtbags bullpen in 2020 and '21, saving 10 games and striking out better than 11 per nine in the latter year. His '22 wasn't as consistent, but he did show off a 90-95 mph fastball that has some darting action to it, as well as a low-80s split change and a slider thrown around 78-83 mph. He'll need to find more consistency with his secondary stuff, but scouts love the way he competes out of the bullpen.

Jays should make a list of all unsigned Senior Relievers. Any any of them that throw over 95 with a decent secondary and had good K rates. Sign like 20 of them and hope maybe 2 get to your MLB Bullpen one day.

Orgfiller, teams do this all the time. I like what the Jays did this draft, sweet job.

Nothing groundbreaking here, but just a few tidbits from Eric Longenhagen of FanGraphs on our selections in rounds 5-8:

Toronto Blue Jays

Liberty’s Mason Fluharty (5) is a lower-slot lefty who delivers from the extreme first base side of the rubber; his fastball has weird cut/sink movement, but also shallow angle. T.J. Brock (6) was up to 97 at Ohio State in limited action, often with lots of rest. He’s an open strider with a vertical arm slot and when he locates his slider, it’s tough for hitters to lay off, but his heater doesn’t play like a mid-90s pitch yet. Peyton Williams (7) is a measurable power darling from Iowa. Dylan Rock (8) transferred from UT-San Antonio to Texas A&M and had a senior year filled with three true outcomes: 19 homers, 52 walks, and 49 strikeouts in 297 PA.
