Berrios was pretty good, he was very unlucky with a ton of lucky seeing eye style hits and bloopers against. Not a ton of whiffs but he snapped off lots of good slider/curveballs and his 2 seamer was moving a lot as well.

I've always maintained that we should reserve judgement until Biggio had a chance to get his body fully healthy and receive some regular playing time. It just didn't feel reasonable to completely write him off after the injury riddled 2021 season given how productive he was in his first three seasons. He was a player who's not necessarily a finished product at the plate as he was still attempting to tweak his approach at the plate. Some of this ended up hurting him though, as he attempted to be more aggressive at the dish, which lessened the impact of his world class plate discipline.

 

I definitely didn't expect such a dramatic turnaround though. Before his covid infection he was sitting at a -9 WRC+ after his first 13 games. 26 games later and he's worked his way up to 133 WRC+. It will be interesting to see where he ends up by season's end.

I’m only annoyed if the player I don’t believe in isn’t a jay and ended up performing. If they play for jays, it’s awesome if they prove me wrong. I’m not a psycho.
