He’s -4 in outs above average and last in the league in UZR, and he just left a pitcher who cannot command the ball out to dry. He seems to make a lot of bad throws.

 

Maybe don’t bench him. Just move him to second base when we have pitchers on the mound when we require good fielding behind them.

 

I don’t totally understand the imperative to develop him at short at the expense of everything else. It can’t help his hitting to always be playing just beyond his capability in the field. It would be very stressful.

 

Let him play an easier position most games and concentrate on hitting .
