Dagagad Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Our pen isn’t good enough. It wasn’t good enough last year either. I see the process behind it. Don’t put too much resources into it, but it would be nice to have as many guys as the orioles with velo coming out of the pen. Like seriously, our pen is so f***ing mediocr and it leads to nights like tonight.

Dagagad Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I can't figure out why you wouldn't bring in a well rested Romano to face Mountcastle. It's an unacceptably poor managerial decision in my eyes. If Garcia can’t pitch to mountcastie, cut him.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 That was damn quick, Yimi's been money all year.
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 This one is really gonna hurt if we don’t win.
Dagagad Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 This is always insane to me that the manager gets blamed for that. Garcia was our marquee signing in the off-season for the pen. We put basically zero resources into the pen. We traded slop for cimber and Richards last year. This is a front office thing. They decided that high velo swing and miss isn’t important enough to invest in. They might be right but that was their choice.
InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Yankees bullpen shits on ours.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 This one is really gonna hurt if we don’t win. A split with Baltimore isn't the best outcome.
BuckHenry Verified Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Need guys who grow gas in the pen .⚾️🔥

He doesn't dictate how to deploy them in the game, that's on Charlie. He chose to deploy Garcia instead of Mayza.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 So baltimore paid 8.1 mil for Rutschman and we paid 55K for Kirk and Moreno...lol.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Yankees bullpen shits on ours. Orioles bullpen shits on ours..

He chose to deploy Garcia instead of Mayza. He has to deploy the resources, sure. But if the resources aren’t that good bad things can happen. That’s kind of the point. I do think Charlie could get guys quicker but that honestly happened so fast with 2 outs that i can see why he didn’t. However, the larger point remains. We CHOSE to have a mediocre bullpen when it comes to swing and miss. That leads to stuff like this happening occasionally. That being all on the manager is f***ing dumb. It’s an org choice.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 It hit the net first. You can see it on the first replay.

Agreed but they are all not the same. Mayza has been our 8th inning setup man all year. Hindsight, but there it is.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Mayza is possibly better than Romano. They should be the 1A and 1B, no questions.... Sigh
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Yimi Garcia still proving to be trash, front office just didn't get the job done on the pen this offseason. He's been quite good till tonight, s*** happens.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Fell asleep. What the hell happened.

He’s also just coming back from injury. I don’t know, I really don’t get it. We planned to have a mediocre bullpen that doesn’t get many Ks. That’s how our bullpen projected. Why are we surprised and blaming it on the manager?
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Fell asleep. What the hell happened. Mountcastle strikes again.
