Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Was going to bitch about Tapia hitting 6th, but just looked up his splits for last 7 days. hmm. It's all about splitting up the 2 lefties in the lineup even though i disagree with putting an inferior batter above another based on that. Our lineup doesn't even have Chapman and Kirk in there and it still looks damn good!
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 lol Caleb Thielbar frustrated with Canada for changing its stance on COVID since last year, as if it was announced yesterday.
harvey16 Verified Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Decent looking lineup tonight. I'd swap Espinal and Tapia spots though. Tapia shouldn't ever be hitting higher then 7th in the order, I like him in the 9 hole, get speed on the bases for the top of the order, Biggio 9th is alright too. Nice to see Chapman given a day off, he's been playing a ton.

Do the US still have similar policy? All these guys crying like it's a Canada only thing. Fortunately, all Jays players are vaccinated.

Yup; any non-immigrant, non-US citizen travelers to the US must be fully vaccinated and provide proof prior to boarding the plane AND must provide a negative test result taken within 1-day of travel OR proof of recovery from a recent COVID illness.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 4-0 Jays with the runs coming on 4 Tapia solo shots.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 4-0 Jays with the runs coming on 4 Tapia solo shots. Give this guy the tickets already
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Was going to bitch about Tapia hitting 6th, but just looked up his splits for last 7 days. hmm. Yeah, just had a gander at his fangraphs page, lots of stuff trending in the right direction. He's got one fewer "barrel" this year than he had all of last season, in 1/4 the ABs, best Hard Hit % numbers of his career, his batted ball numbers look excellent (<50% GB rate, which was one of the big complaints when he was acquired). xwOBA is .303, xSLG is .409 Don't worry, people who think they're hilarious when they point out that I said it was possible that the stars could align and he could have a 2-3 WAR season, he's still a negative WAR guy on the season, but it's starting to creep up. Oh, and a .326/.392/.413 slash line, .360 wOBA, and 136 wRC+ over the past 3 weeks. Who the f*** knows if this will continue, but he's on a pretty damn good run.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 I’ll say 7-3 jays, Biggio gets off the struggle bus and goes yard.

Big BlueJay Verified Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Well there goes most of their late inning bullpen
Big BlueJay Verified Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Gotta be careful with Buxton. He has the highest OPS against the Jays of any opponent in his career: 1.038 career OPS. Have you seen his stats over the past month? Have some of those girls from the College softball World Series pitch to him he'll do nothing. He'll also probably sit out 2 of the 3 games for "maintenance" anyway, at least one for sure.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 7-6 Jays, 1 run win Jansen, Gurriel HRs Expecting box seats, unlimited food and drink

He has a .429 BABIP over that span, so it's not going to continue, but at least he showing some signs of life. Grichuk post 2018 was basically a 0.5 WAR level player, give or take, so the bar isn't high to at least match his level of value.

What a country huh?
Big BlueJay Verified Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Jansen up to 5th and no Zimmer, to what do we owe this common sense?

Yeah, I certainly don't expect him to be a 136 wRC+ bat going forward, but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities that with the tweaks he seems to have made he could be in the 100-110 range ROS. (Steamer has him at 93 ROS)

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 I've got Vlad to HR and Jays 8-3
Big BlueJay Verified Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Jays 6-3, they can't win a game without a save being needed! Leadoff Springer Dinger in the bottom of the 1st and Vlad hits one for the second time in 3 games

Even if he ends up marginally worst than Grichuk, it's still a win for the front office. Pinto, and 5 mil, is not insignificant value added. But yeah, it's great to see Tapia providing value and proving his haters (like myself) wrong.
