If this douche just trusted the starters more, almost everything would be resolved. If Romano is hurt, I want his head.

Yep. Kikuchi goes 6IP, then Phelps, Richards and Cimber and we're out of the game.

It's very obvious he doesn't have a say when it comes to pitch count stuff.

He let Berrios go to 102 pitches his last start against the Cards and let Gausman go 105.

Just saw the box score. Can’t believe Romano was used for a 3rd day in a row, especially since he wasn’t even needed in the first game. Buntoyo ended Giles and seems like it’s his mission to do the same to Romano. It’s likely that who is available in the pen is determined before the game but Charlie (if he had a brain) should have avoided Romano either way.

It was a great W but how long is Atkins going to allow this?

Romano is cooked. He had nothing last night. His FB is still down 1.5 MPH avg from '21. Thursday using him up 4 in a 4 games series was a mistake, which we knew.

Merryweather has been hit hard all year but when you use all your bullets (tin as some of them may be) every f***ing night even when not needed, thats whats left. So in he goes against Trout and Ohtahi to a completely predictable result. His FB has look like Nate's when he gets rocked. Hard, no movement and bad location. Some people forget when Merryweather started having success for those now stuff of legend 10 days in '21 Charlie started to throw him multiple innings, as brittle as he has been. He just can't help himself. Giles is another.

But yet he pulls Manoah early and leaves Berrios in too long. He maneuvers himself into a Goldschmidt/Borucki match up.

He should go on a fking permanent Bongo Band World Tour and leave the Jays to winning a WS ring.

I've always felt an aspect of narcissism with this front office right out of the shoot, but now they're showing the ability to be naive at the same time.

That's a bad f***ing mix.

If I were a member of the post game media I would definitely ask Chuckles straight up why he didn't use a better (statistically speaking)option than Merryweather in a one run game in the seventh versus Ohtani and Trout, but we all know what the answer would be..

"Hulian have great stuff man, great fastball and swing and miss stuff. He showed that he can get good heeters out before and he can do it again. We just have to show faith in our guys and we'll be all right."

Starting rotation is nails right now.

Even Berrios, who has been the weakest link, is creeping his ERA down.

Kikuchi in May is 2.26 ERA / 2.66 FIP

Ryu since coming back is 1.72 ERA / 3.47 FIP

And we all know what Manoah and Gausman are doing.

If only the Jays could ever consistently put the pitching and hitting together consistently.

It's nice that the offence seems to be hitting it's stride lately and the starters continue to be very good, but goddamn this team needs some bullpen help. I can't for the life of me understand why Merryweather was brought in to face Ohtani and Trout. I can only guess that Charlie was hoping to save Cimber for a potential 9th inning save situation. It's crazy that the bullpen's long man of all people had to lock the save down.

This deadened ball can f*** right off. Chapman and especially Jansen were robbed of home runs last night as balls that looked to be leaving the yard died on the warning track. I think Chapman is poised to go on a heater at the plate given the quality of contact he's been regularly producing.

The new balls combined with West coast evening games. Those balls hit were out anywhere else. The west coast marine layer has been robbing homers for decades.

Whenever I feel like losing a few brain cells, I go and take a look at the Sportsnet comment section. They’re all defending Chuckles, they think he’s a wonderful manager, Merryweather is great and was the right guy to bring in, and also Romano should pitch in every game.

If Pearson comes up and stays healthy and Mayza comes off IL, we just need to get one elite swing/miss pitcher (LHP preferably) for the bullpen.

We aren't that far off from a decent enough bullpen, imo.

If Pearson stays healthy is a big if obviously, but on top of that if, is the if he’s going to be good as well. Shouldn’t be counted on other than a wild card

I'd count on Pearson about as much as I'd count on Merryweather at this point.

He's well into prove the naysayers wrong territory now.

Of course he could come up and make a difference in a positive way, his stuff is elite. But between the injuries/illness, command problems and confidence issues he is very far from a sure thing.

It'll be interesting to see if any other guys sneak into the bullpen later this season though. Have to think Adrian Hernandez isn't far away from getting a 40 man spot and a call up.

I haven't completely given up on Borucki if he can ever sort out his command issues. Much like Merryweather it appears as though he was a sticky stuff user in early 2021 as his spin rates have dropped off dramatically after June of last season so he'll need to prove he can be effective without the extra spin.
