Kinda gotta feel bad for Grichuk. Right as the team is a world series contender, he gets traded to the f***ing Rockies, which is baseball purgatory.

All the best to him. He had his good moments, but the was consistently inconsistent.

Oh shittt he gone lol.

Honestly I think he complimented the roster well as a 4th OF, not a fan of Tapia at all.

I’d say we need a better 4th OF now unless they think Pelacios and Biggio are enough

Yeah same… i’d be pissed. He’s probably throwing his gear at the wall right now.

Upside is he could put up big homerun numbers at Coors and get himself a second payday before he retires

Was not expecting this. Unless we make a follow up move, the 2022 roster has slightly become worse for this season. Hate him all you want but he was a passable option at CF defensively while being a very streaky bat offensively.

This is why I think we are doing something with the money saved here. Either we get a better backup OF or get a 2B and make Biggio our backup everywhere.

We're sending money so we got to see how much we are actually saving.

I agree. If Springer goes down again the OF looks real ugly. We have no replacement that can play CF everyday.

lmfao this is amazing

Tapia is not an improvement on Grichuk at all but might fit the roster better and he could, maybe, just maybe, have some untapped potential? Maybe some better coaching can help him access a bit more power.

Pinto doesn't seem to crack any prospect lists but his numbers were lofty. 5'8" 2B.

Grichuk was also not someone who could play CF everyday.

Not a complete disaster but his UZR/150 there last couple years was -11 and -6. He's a corner OF.

Tapia might be the same in CF as Grichuck due to raw speed, but worse on the corners because Tapia is just a worse instinctual outfielder.

A BaseballAmerica guy just said he's 5'6.

Likely never sniffs the major leagues but worth a shot. Maybe the hit tool is good enough to carry him

This doesn't really make us better right now, so how we judge it will have to be based on any corresponding move to address CF, using any money that we saved. Tapia adds a bit of speed and a decent bat, but looks unplayable in CF, while Grichuk was steady and passable there as a backup.

Tapia is a better fit for the roster as a backup (LH, speed). If he has to play a lot for some reason then it might be an issue, unless they can help him become a better hitter somehow. Let's see how much money is going the other way.

So he's gonna be like that little cheating f*** in Houston, got it.

Grichuk will play every day with the Rockies, possibly in a good spot in the lineup and launch a bunch of dingers in Coors. I don't feel bad because that's probably the best thing for his career possible. Will be guaranteed CF spot with Blackmon and Bryant manning the corners

Neutral on this deal - Grichuk for all his faults > Tapia. May have been more of clubhouse move because Grichuk would have spent a lot of time on the bench.

What this move does do is put Kirk as the primary DH

I'm suspecting another trade or a free agent signing of another outfielder is in the works
