Teoscar's range looked real nice out there on that Baez fly out. Felt like he was gliding out there.

Question, could the Jays have 8 players with 20 HR at the end of the season? Last year they had 7, 2 of them are gone, and 1 got replaced with Chapman.

Kinda goes without saying that everyone 1-7 has the ability to go 20+ with healthy seasons, but can either Jansen or Kirk also do it?

Great lineup but:

1. The accomplished vetrin Chapman should be ahead of that young guy Kirk (flip them in the lineup).

2. Biggio's arm is more suited for LF, Hernandez RF and Biggio LF better.

3. Flip Bichette and Hernandez.

Quibbling, really. Plus ST they don't care about lineup optimization.

1. Chapman has a 104 wRC+ projection while Kirk has the second-highest on the team at 129. Until Chapman proves his recent offensive woes were as a result of the hip issues and he actually bounces back with the bat, I think the placement of those two guys in the lineup is perfect.

2. I like that. I actually didn't realize Biggio was in RF. I just saw he was replacing Gurriel in the outfield and my brain assumed he would be in LF.

3. Agreed, that's the only lineup change I would make to the above order (though I don't think it's a big deal).

Biggio has already admitted he doesn't like LF and doesn't get proper reads off the bat there, hence why he plays RF, same thing happened last year, he plays RF and Teo moves to LF, is what it is.

That lineup could have Espinal in LF and Biggio at 2B then, might be more optimal

Romano slipped while walking his dog

f*** me. Romano hurts himself walking his dog and now Springer tweaks his hamstring running the incline hill. Looks like he's he might not make the opening day lineup. Didn't call it a pull, a tweak. What does that even mean? Hopefully he can avoid a DL stint. I finally join a fantasy baseball league and of course I get Springer. What was I thinking...f***!

It's great that Romano looks good to go, but out of the 2 he's not the one I'm more concerned about.

Where'd you read this news on Springer? I can't find squat from google, or his player page.

Another odd coincidence of the Springer injury is that it's exactly 3 years to the day that Kevin Pillar was traded to the Giants.

That didn't answer my question?

Holy f***, dude? Give me a link, lol.

I truly am a 12 year old boy trapped in an old man's body. I don't know why April 1 brings so much pleasure to me. It just does.

I thought that in his last outing, the one where Philly were teeing off on his curve ball.

I'm looking forward to a full go Kikuchi as this is his last start this spring.

Sebastian Espino's write up, is intriguing...

Catch Espino on the right day, and he looks like the best player on the field. He has power to his pull side (more now than before, as he’s learned to pull his hands in and really drive inside pitches), can thwack spin even when he has to adjust to it, and even acquits himself at third base. But while Espino’s defensive versatility (he’s also played second and left field) and knack for hard contact are enticing, a terrible approach threatens to undo the entire package. He’s swing happy, regularly chasing pitches well out of the zone, and had one of the lowest contact rates on Vancouver’s High-A team. Even his walk rate is a bit deceptive, more the product of long at-bats than a discerning eye.

Still, there’s a lot to dream on here. Espino already hits for power, and at a stringy 6-foot-3, he’s got room for more. It’s also encouraging that he’s performed well, as he hit .295/.358/.511 in High-A, which is quite good for his age. The safe bet is that bad swing decisions undercut his effectiveness in the box, but this is nonetheless a player with a wide range of future outcomes. A defensively viable and power-hitting third baseman is a hell of a player; a left fielder who can’t hit isn’t a big leaguer. The Double-A test looms large for one of the most intriguing and volatile players in the system.

Get him some Lasik, STAT!

Mayo pretty much echoes Longenhagen...

Signed by the Mets in 2016 out of Bonao, Dominican Republic, Espino debuted in the Dominican Summer League in ’17 and hit .267 with a .772 OPS over 64 games. He spent his next two summers in the GCL and Appalachian League, hitting .267 and .251 without much power to show for, then was selected by the Blue Jays in the Minor League phase of the Rule 5 Draft prior to the ’21 season. With the Blue Jays, Espino took off, hitting .295 with eight home runs and an .859 OPS between Low-A and High-A in ’21, splitting his time between third base and left field.

With some savvy scouting, the Blue Jays added a physically imposing 21-year-old who’s already shown more power potential than he ever did in the New York organization, where he hit just four home runs in his first three seasons. Espino is physically imposing at 6-foot-2 with an above-average arm, making the left side of the diamond a natural home for him. The consistency of Espino’s contact will be one of the most important factors to his development, but there are some enticing tools here if he can find some consistency.

Espino remains a high-upside project for the Toronto player development staff, but it’s an accomplishment just to have him in the system as a Minor League Rule 5 pick. He’ll be tested by more advanced Double-A pitching this year and there’s still a very wide range of outcomes for Espino at this point, but he holds a valuable spot in an organization needing outfield prospect depth.
