Why even send him out in a 1-run game? I also watched Mark Kotsay send Cole Irvin today in the 6th in a 2-run game to face righties Hoskins and Segura even though he was at 75+ pitches. I don't understand why managers are still doing this with 28-man rosters.

It's doubly dumb, 3rd time through order and pitchers aren't properly stretched out. I can't think of a single reason.

I can't find anything on this now. Swear I heard it. Something like the scorer has more discretion to assign the W to the most effective pitcher, even if they weren't the pitcher of record traditionally before a lead change.
