King Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Holy f*** this is the best day ever
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Yup. And they are still fighting for pay for 2020 for games that didn't happen during a pandemic where no fans were able to come. That's why there won't be a 2022. Past the point they can play 162... so back-pay is an issue and they still want back pay from 2020 so they won't sign on for anything in 2022 without back pay for games that didn't happen. lol. If the rumor of a deal is true, happy to be wrong.
jerb Verified Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Players can report to spring-training camps as early as tomorrow. Opening Day is expected to be April 7, as @JesseRogersESPN first reported. Transactions unfreeze upon ratification, which is expected to come as early as today, meaning free agents can sign and trades can occur.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Lol seriously f*** the executive board of 300+ million dollar guys trying to vote no on this deal.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 How soon until free agent signings and trades start happening? Now, players report tomorrow! Yippee!

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Max Scherzer (Boras Corporation) Francisco Lindor (SportsMeter) Marcus Semien (Boras Corporation) Andrew Miller (Frontline) Gerrit Cole (Boras Corporation) Zach Britton (Boras Corporation) Jason Castro (ISE Baseball) James Paxton (Boras Corporation) Five of the eight are Boras clients. jerb Verified Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Jon Heyman @JonHeyman Union executive board vote was 8-0 against the MLB proposal but teams voted 26-4 in favor of it, carrying the day, Unusual that the general player population goes so far against player leadership.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 The teams that voted against were mets, Yanks, Stros and Cards
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Woooooo I'm back baby. Thanks for holding down the fort. Next few weeks will be so excited with all the free agent moves/trades.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 The teams that voted against were mets, Yanks, Stros and Cards In addition to the executives that voted no?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Just a question to see if anyone knows more then me (Which is not tough) but if the executive is all against it how does it get to a team vote? Do they have thresholds that they have to meet to put it to a team vote?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 So thats 3 NO votes from the Yanks 3 NO votes from the Mets 2 NO votes from the Astros 2 NO votes from the Cardinals And the other 2 NO votes were Semien and Paxton The usual suspects of course
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 I'm now hijacking this thread to provide updates on the University of Lethbridge administration's negotiation with the Faculty Association, since the faculty went on strike on February 11th, having gone without a contract for nearly 600 days. They're still on strike, though now both sides have agreed to mediation, that will start some time next week. My classes are being f***ed over hard, as even if an agreement is reached, the University hasn't yet informed students what options we will have, whether the semester will just be stretched out into May, or if it will be condensed. It greatly impacts me as I will not be in the country in May, so if they decide to stretch out the semester into May, I wont be here to finish. If I don't get the choice to withdraw and get my money back to apply for these classes at a later date, I'm boned. Not to mention all the student's whose leases run out in April and have no place to live past then. The following links will be to each sides propoganda releases: https://www.ulethbridge.ca/bargaining#:~:text=The%20Board%20negotiating%20team%20is,2.5%20per%20cent%20each%20year. https://www.ulfa.ca/taking-action/bargaining-updates/
