When the new CBA gets done testing will 1000% be a part of it. But for now there is no testing. So if a player wanted to he could do a few cycles, gain the benefits over the course of a few months, assuming he started right as the CBA expired back in December, and then have it completely out of his system by the time the new CBA is signed and testing is happening again. Im gonna guess quite a lot of guys did this, especially the fringe major leaguers.

Maybe, but it would be a pretty big gamble as an agreement theoretically could have happened quickly (you know, if idiots weren't in charge of both sides). I would guess most of the guys likely to attempt it would be ones needing to recover from bad injuries.

Yeah, they're still testing in the minors though as 5 MILB guys were caught the other day, one was Dalton Pompeys brother. I think thats his second time caught.

Drug of abuse for Pompey so probably just weed. Stupid how they still test for that in the MILB while in the MLB they dont test for any recreational drugs.

Hey, you learn something new everyday. I was not aware it was the owners who had originally pushed for arbitration, and it used to start after 2 years, with no limits on how often if could be gone through.

I wonder if the players would go back to that structure (ie, ALSO keeping the unlimited aspect of it). I feel like that's a rather important part as well. I suspect they probably wouldn't.

Yes.

I remember when he was finishing school that we should try to get him, then I thought about Pompey concussions. Oh well.

MLB is planning to make a new proposal following the owners meeting which ends tomorrow. It is expected to involve core economic issues, and hope remains that it could trigger something to get a deal done on time for the regular season to begin as scheduled, or close.

MLB and the players union are to meet Saturday so presumably the new MLB proposal will be unveiled then

We’ll fill all the Coke machines, for free.

Deal?

Even with 200,000 cases a day and 1000-2000 deaths per day, most parts of the the US are dismantling restrictions.

Unlikely the pandemic is a consideration of the owners at this point.

Yeah I think the only MLB market with any real restriction is Toronto. Owners would be making money in ST and regular season mostly like normal, I would imagine. I guess the owners are ready to take that hit.

Yeah, that drove me to hell and back crazy, the bastards.

Also, this dude is PIST!!! He must be one of the reps on the Union team.

I mean you're probably right - but shouldn't the response look at the average return for all MLB teams over some random duration? Cherry picking 1 team for 1 duration is weak.

I'd be curious to see the franchise values year over year.

That's an incredibly stupid argument, even if it was true. Billionaires don't put ALL of their money into the stock market. They put it into alternative assets to stocks like art. And some of them baseball teams. They even accept lower rates of returns in exchange for diversification of asset classes to guarantee a minimum level of wealth.

AVERAGE: In 2000, the average value of an MLB team was $238 million. In 2019, the average value is $1.735 billion. This is an increase of $1.4097 billion (728%).

Even cherry picking what's probably the lowest valued teams (Tampa, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Cinci)... They all show pretty nice valuation increases:

It's greed to ask for a pay increase while the value of the product they are providing also increases?

I mean.... the nerve!!!
