Ehjays Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Whoa great price, thought he would get more
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Author Posted November 29, 2021 Welcome back to AL East, Kevin
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Jays finally got their guy. I’m happy its only 5 years. I thought they might have to go longer to keep from his preference to stay on the West Coast.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 What a f***ing steal!!!!! I'd bet Ray signs for more, and I've rather have Gausman at this price. Holy s***
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Not mad at this at all. Curious to see what Ray gets now.
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 That's pretty solid. Given the money that's being tossed around I thought it would cost more. I'm happy.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Great deal, Gausman was one of my top pitching targets last offseason so it's nice to see the front office ultimately end up getting their man. While I'm disappointed to see Semien go this helps to reduce the sting of that a little bit.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Like others i thought it would take 5/125 at a minimum so I'm really happy with this deal. Sucks to lose Ray but if we can use the difference towards improving the rest of our team, it's a move you have to make.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Awesome! Now go get Gray or Rodon.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Berrios, Gausman, Manoah, and Ryu is a damn good top 4 on paper, and I'm sure they'll acquire one more SP.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Berrios, Gausman, Manoah, and Ryu is a damn good top 4 on paper, and I'm sure they'll acquire one more SP. This is a very tidy little piece of business. Over the last few days adding Garcia and now Gausman leaves less holes to fill. I'd still like to see another impact infielder brought in as well as another potential reclamation project starter brought in as well to replace Matz now that a top of the rotation starter has been acquired. Add one more leverage arm to the bullpen after that and the team will be stacked.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Author Posted November 29, 2021 Can Gausman play 2b or 3b?
Davie Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Honestly if we can get this + Ray I'll be over the moon (I'd also look to see if there's any takers on Ryu aswell)
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Has Gausman made any fundamental changes since leaving Baltimore that has led to his better numbers?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Awesome! Now go get Gray or Rodon. I would be happier with Rodon.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Has Gausman made any fundamental changes since leaving Baltimore that has led to his better numbers? I was asking same thing. in googling, and I think someone else said, mostly been pitch selection changes. I just remember his issue was always the long ball, so all the AL East parks..don’t dislike the signing but preferred Ray. Maybe we’ll get both
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Berrios, Gausman, Manoah, and Ryu is a damn good top 4 on paper, and I'm sure they'll acquire one more SP. Striploin as a solid #6 too. And Pearson as an X Factor.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Fantastic signing, terms are great.
jerb Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Alex Wood @Awood45 Put some respect on this mans name! There are some people you play with in your career that are just genuinely amazing human beings. Gaus is one of those guys. The good guys do win and Toronto just got a baller.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Striploin as a solid #6 too. And Pearson as an X Factor. I wouldn't count on Stripling being a solid #6.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 I would be happier with Rodon. Rodon is the perfect fit here. Not linked to any compensation either. White Sox are dumb for not qualifying. Let the Angels overpay Ray and lets grab Rodon.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 I wouldn't count on Stripling being a solid #6. lol, he's been a solid #6 for years
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Author Posted November 29, 2021 lol, he's been a solid #6 for years Weak divisions, but AL East
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Jays could easily come out of this off-season better and have tons of draft picks with a huge bonus pool.
jerb Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Ethan Diamandas @EthanDiamandas Some really strong parallels b/w Gausman's put-away splitter & Robbie Ray's slider, which #BlueJays fans learned to love. Gausman's splitter in 2021: 45.9% whiff Ray's slider in 2021: 45.8% whiff Both nasty pitches; lots of swing and miss.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Has Gausman made any fundamental changes since leaving Baltimore that has led to his better numbers? Splitter usage increased.
